Re: Toy Clearance Question My strategy is to go a week or two before I plan on shopping with my DD (3.5 yrs) and my nephew (2yrs) and just let them loose in the toy department. Then you take notes to see what they're interested in and what type of toys they seem to be into. My DD is obsessed with music and Disney princesses so its pretty easy for me. My nephew is tough however because he's not really "into" anything yet. For him I'm going to wing it and hope for the best.
Let's see, things she loved that she got last year at 2 1/2 were: tons of Little People, books, playdough, a peeing baby doll and of course princess stuff.
I am actually sending my mom in tomorrow morning (unfortunately with the kids but they'll forget everything before XMas) to do the shopping for me since I have to work. The instructions I gave her was to get a lot of what she knows they'll like and get a few outside-the-box stuff too. If XMas time comes around and I dont think they're going to like what I got, that stuff will go to friends' kids and/or donations to Toys for Tots. My DD was so excited last year to see the soldier and give him toys for sad kids (that's the only way I could explain it so that she understood what we were doing).
