You are correct the scanners and the registers are down loaded at the same time. Did you also know that if you try and use the same cashier and you become chatty with them, if you have something that is on clearance and it is damaged and it doesn't say as is they can give you another 10% off the ticket price?. Also if you get something that has a ticket and not the original that the cashier should write on you receipt what the item is and then initial it for you in case you have to return it.
Just another thought that I used when I was there.

My target always seems to put out deals a little slower.

The 9 digit number (xxx-xx-xxxx) is the DPCI or the Target item number. Beside that, in the upper right corner, it will tell you the percentage that the item has been marked down. It will not give you any idea when a new markdown will occur though. Each store's markdowns are determined by how quickly an item is selling and if room needs to be made for new product. So for example, if a shirt hasn't sold well at all, it will go straight to 50% instead of starting at 30%. But, some things that do sell well but are in an area that is about to be reset, i.e. new planograms set with new merchandise, will start out at a lower markdown first.

I think it is Monday for baby stuff but I have been waiting months for clearance high chairs with no luck :(. Also if clearance day is monday and you get there at opening time does the register automatically know the new price or do you need to wait for them to scan and do tags?

The markdowns do not show up at the register or on a price scanner until they are activated. In my store, the pricing team leaves around 2 or 2:30 every day so everything for that day should be activated by then. Before the store opens, they will pull anything from the back room that is scheduled to be marked down that day, so if they have the product in the back room then it *should* register as soon as the store opens but anything that is not in the back room would not. Also, if they know they have more markdowns in a certain area than they normally have, they will start there. So, for example, when toys get marked down a couple weeks after Christmas, they do that first thing that day.

Do they start marking down first thing in the morning then? I am going on Thursday and want to check the price of the dorm stuff. It was still 30% last Saturday. They have a comforter that I have to have.
