I have a box with all my coupons in it. It is the extent of my organization. I need to get with it to compete with all of you professionals!

this is what goes IN the store with me. it holds everythingin place and a pen. very handy.

i have a zipper case with coupons for various stores. my CVSing is organized right now in paper business envelopes with stickys on them to tell me what i am buying. coupons kept inside.

This is my first ever post...

so please be kind. I'm a guy (yep, a guy) who just went out and spent like $30.00 to get a binder and stuff to organize my few coupons...then got home and started the process, only to find that most had already expired. I'm using the b/b card sheet protectors for most of my cp's...I've seen serious cp-er's walking around the store with binder in tow...any advice on how best to get organized for the shopping trip? I usually plan out a weeks worth of meals at a time, make a list of stuff to buy, then check the sale papers for cp ops. And, how can I get cp's other than buying the newspaper? I'm new to HCW...and am a little lost and overwhelmed. HELP!!!

There are so many threads!! I read most but not all ... so sorry if this is a Repeat

Many people have discussed missing out because they didn't realize a coupon was expired :mistake2: and organizing based on expiration date. This seems so overwhelming.

I have a great way to add to MANY of your organizers!! I purchased (on sale

) reusable sticky flags (the kind for "sign here" etc). I use baseball card style holder and only put one type of q (ie Soft Scrub) in each slot. If a q is expiring that month I put a flag

on top of the slot !! That way I know it needs to be used that month and I keep an eye out for sales

!! I also use post it's to let me know that there is going to be a sale

(ie- CVS 2/$5 on 7/22). If I find it cheaper some where else I use it

... if not I wait for the sale

And because my binder is organized by aisle ... I can get in and out of the store in record time

I hope this can be of some help to everyone. Even if you don't flag all your coupons, YOU SHOULD flag your favorites. I have not let a coupon expire in MONTHS!! And if I find that a coupon is not going to be used, I will leave a RAOK at the store a day or two before expiration

It sounds like you are well on your way to getting organized and seem to have a plan in place. The only thing I would suggest is to get the sale flyer's first then plan your meals around what is on sale that week. You can view the Grocery threads on this site to see if your particular store flyer is posted early enough so you can pre-plan. I personally prefer to have a hard copy of the flyer so I buy the Wednesday paper to get the flyer's for the two stores I use. I do my planning during lunch, get my q's together when I get home and am ready to hit the store(s) first thing Saturday morning.
