I can promise you...if I hadn't been on HCW or another website I would of completely assumed I could use that coupon to purchase eye shadow. not grasping on straws...poorly written coupon.

In fact often eye makeup, blush and foundation are right next to each other.

Whenever we have to actually look up the company website to figure out which product we can purchase..IMO poorly written coupon.

There are plenty of people who are just regular coupon people who are just using a few coupons here and there..and they are apt to use this coupon wrong, I do not blame them...I blame CG..and CG knows people will purchase the wrong item and iMO they count on it so they can get out of reimbursing it.
I've got to say I agree...
If I hadn't seen the extensive discussion these coupons bring up on these boards, I'd think nothing of the coupon, and just assume it was basically saying "any" Covergirl.
Just like a shampoo brand might say "any hair product", knowing that's all they make.

face product to me meant any item by them that went on my face..I dont want to miss use a coupon but when the wording is that off I think it can be very easy done even by me for like I said I got blush but only for that was what I found for free with the coupons I had. I could have as easy got eye shadow if that had of been free with the coupons but not because that was how I wantted the coupons to read but because it say face product on it...and my lips, eye ect are on my face so without thinking when I saw that coupon I was already wondering what I could get free or cheap made by them that went on my face.

I know now what GC means by that but if they come out with this same coupon next year I may have forgotten it by then and not because I want to but because I really did forget what they mean by that...because face product when all my common sense kicks in means any thing that gose on any part of my face..

    Face

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Jump to: navigation, search
For other uses, see Face (disambiguation).
FaceA portrait of a human face (Mona Lisa)Latinfacia/faciesMeSHfaceThe face perception mechanisms of the brain, such as the fusiform face area, can produce facial pareidolias such as in images of Libya Montes (left) and Cydonia (right, Mars)

The face is a central sense organ complex, for those animals that have one, normally on the ventral surface of the head, and can, depending on the definition in the human case, include the hair, forehead, eyebrow, eyelashes, eyes, nose, ears, cheeks, mouth, lips, philtrum, temple, teeth, skin, and chin.[1] The face has uses of expression, appearance, and identity amongst others. It also has different senses like olfaction, taste, hearing, and vision.[2]

In school I was told that all of these are part of my face..so I guess that is why my common sense told me that the coupon could be used on any items that went on any of these parts of my face....I dont know why GC dont just put on the coupn good on so and so only..it would be that easy to fix..

Wow, that's tricky wording. To me, most cosmetics are "face products". How would the average consumer know otherwise?

I had to crack up at this.

Honestly...serious people? Serious? I wanna get a look at these Covergirl people who have lips and eyes but not on their faces. I'm just glad I already used all mine on free blush. I did see a bunch of them get used on eye shadow, though. I don't think very many people are aware this is a no-no. I think if the manufacturer wanted to exclude something so obviously a part of the normal human face, they should have put "Excludes eye and lip products" on there. I'm sure it would be a whole lot less headaches for everyone.

I never even thought twice about using these coupons on anything other then blush or concealer. Ya concealer not free but cheap! I use the loose powder one anytime i wear makeup so to score it cheaper well it was a score. Sometimes you really gotta know makeup too to know what is meant by face product. Revlon has put out some coupons that make you say hmm as well in the past. But when explained you understand that makeup has sections. Foundation can be pretty pricey so to spend only $2-$3 for it was a score for me. But anytime i hear face products i know what is meant by it but then again i wear makeup alot and i have TONS of it! And my sisters very very very into makeup as well. Liners, shadows, mascara are all covergirl eye products. lipstick is a lip product. Their other coupons on items such as mascara i believe has stated that as well in specifics on eye products or lip products etc. I guess im one of the few that already knew what the coupon meant automatically and intended on using it correctly and i did. I only got two blush becuase its not something i wear alot. Then my other ones i got cheap foundation!

I know what you're saying sort of, Evers, but I also think they're sidestepping common sense a tad. I used to work for a wholesaler that handled makeup products, and not all cosmetic companies divide it up quite that way.

To me it would be for sure foundation and powder. Maybe concealer. Maybe blush. Yes, blush goes on the face. But when ordering online for makeup they often use categories such as cheeks, lips, eyes, face. I have seen pics on here of people using the coupon to buy powder puffs or sponges. I would say those are accessories and it wouldn't apply. I don't use Covergirl for the most part so it's a moot point for me.

To begin with my wife and I assumed it meant anything for the face. But now we understand it is the specific products listed on their website for face products. Meaning blush, foundation, coverup, certain tools etc. and who knew that eyes and lips are not part of your face?

How the little old lady using her one coupon is supposed to know that covergirl does not consider her eye shadow as a face product is beyond my wife and my comprehension.
