What's the deal with eBay and gift cards?

Has anyone ever looked at gift cards on eBay? Everytime I check them out they are being bid up to the amount on the gift card or even MORE than the amount on the card! I would love to find them half price, but I just don't understand why people bid them up so high. Why take the chance on getting a card that doesn't work when you're going to bid up to the amount on the card???

I've often wondered the same thing! Why on earth would you bid more than the card is worth?

Rewards. Although ebates has suspended their program until October, there's plenty of other ways to get rewards. Such as credit cards & ebays reward program.

I have gone through ebates to make a purchase & then used my cc & ended up with a 9% - 12% savings before. So, they may be getting them for at least 10% less than what you're seeing.

Also, I understand that CA now has a law that GC balances must be given to the customer. So, add that with the above & you have a new business.
