Default Looking for great stores/restaurants in MO, KS and CO

We're planning a road trip in a couple of weeks. We'll be driving to Colorado, and will spend a few days there with my MIL who goes out there every summer.

We'll be driving through MO and KS. JUST in case I run into any deals (you know us couponers are always looking for a deal, ), I'll be taking my coupon file with me. And also so we can buy cheap drinks along the way. We might be doing some eating out, but will also bring a cooler with our own drinks and snacks.

I would like to know what stores to look for in MO, KS and CO that double (or triple?, just hoping!). And what drugstores do they have out there?

    TIA!

If you're going Branson, MO, the WM and Target near the Branson Welcome Center are very coupon friendly. They charge sales tax AFTER coupons in MO so if you have MQs that net free items AC, you'll come out with bags of items totally free :)

For buffet restaurants, the Golden Corral right across the IMAX theatre is okay and sometimes there are coupons found in coupon books that about in Branson so keep an eye on them. There's also a mall there on top of a hill that has coupon books for the name brand outlets like Couch, Gap, Banana Republic and all other name brands you can think of.

If you go through Kansas City, try Gates or Arthur Bryants BBQ. It is a large city so you can find a little of anything you like. If you come to southwest MO, then go to Crosstown in Springfield. We are smaller here but have a good variety of restaurants.

In KC, they have Price Chopper, Schnucks, HyVee, Harter House, CVS, Walgreens, Target, Wal Mart. and KMart. In Springfield-Branson we have Price Cutter, Dillons, Wal Mart, Target, KMart, Harter House. Price Cutter and Harter House double up to .50 so your .75 q's won't double. Price Cutter also has a limit of doubling 2 like coupons and a max of 20 double. Harter house has no limit. Dillons doubles coupons but will only double to a value of 1.00. I do not know about KC stores, I moved before I really used coupons.

Dillons only doubles to a dollar BUT they bump from 55 cents up to 95 cents (bump to a dollar) and they take expired up to 2 weeks.

In KC the only store that I know of that doubles is Hen House

Kansas taxes pre coupon. Missouri taxes post coupon...so your typically better off purchasing it in Missouri (not to mention...you pay less tax there anyways).

Also Kansas has only beer in the grocery stores so it's next to impossible to find wine tags or beer rebates in the normal grocery stores. I"ve never gone into the liquor stores to see what they have in there.

In Branson, is where I have found the best wine tags LOL.

If your sticking to I-70 then once your past Topeka, KS then you've seen the biggest of Kansas in that area. Everything else until you get to Denver is tiny dinky little towns.

I"m down in the South East Kansas Area...so if you venture down here...come say HI!!! Are only claim to fame currently...is we are about an hour from Joplin.

Thanks for all the info! I'll have to print this out and take it with me so I remember it all.

I always wondered about MO taxes. We live just across the river from St. Louis, and I wondered if it's worth it to do our shopping over there. But with gas prices so high, maybe not?

We have family in St. Louis, and DH has friends over there, so IF we happen to be there for something else, we take advantage and gas up (15-20 cents less per gallon than IL), and occasionally hit a grocery store to take advantage of a sale or coupon. (Recently had $2 off produce coupons that were NBPR in MO).

Anyway, I'll definitely take a look at some of the stores mentioned.

Colorado also charges tax before the coupons come off. Lots of Wags there and I found sale items there that were out of stock in my usual TX stores. King Soopers in the cities and City Market in the smaller towns are both Kroger stores. Safeway and Albertsons are in CO too.

I just came back from a road trip with a stack of tearpads from gas stations and a HyVee in Iowa. Plenty of winetags too but many were expired.

Have fun on your trip! Looking for coupons is a lot more exciting than just hunting down the restroom :)
