Idea for cheap or free produce...

Hey that sounds like a great idea, bartering. They is little couponing activity in RI where I come from. So I am bouncing around kind of getting to know people from all over.
Wish we had Farmers Markets here. We do but they are in the southern part of the state.

Do you have roadside vendors of fruit and produce? It does not have to be a farmers market - just a mom and pop type operation - sure corporate America only wants cash, but anything localy owned should see the value in barter...

when you are out driving, look for those signs that say "eggs" or "tomatoes".....stop and see if they are willing to barter. 9 times out of 10 they are going to say yes. who knows what else they have to barter too!

I wish I had a home grown farmers market here. We have one but these people go and buy the stuff to resale so its hard to make deal with them... we have one man that grows watermelons which my son picks for him the month of july so we get free watermelom then a few times a week and like the people at the farmers market he buys other fruits and vegs to sale at his roadside market. Maybe I need to out what he needs and see if we can work out some deals, never thought to ask him before now

I miss my fresh eggs from my neighbor, he was geting more than he could get ride of and he said the chickens were more than he was willing to deal with so after about 1 and half years he sold them all..dummy me should have got a few of them from him but I really have no place to keep them.
