At my store (Dillons) sugar and other baking supplies are on sale during the late fall and winter, around Thanksgiving and Christmas. If a store brand is available for less than the name brand after the coupon, I'd wait.
Ok... so I checked the sales cycles threads and it seems sugar goes on sale in December. Is that really the only time?
I have several Domino sugar q's from 5/22 inserts and am wondering if there will be a good time to use them soon. They expire in July, so I have time, but I priced them at bloom and the 4lb canister seems to be the greatest deal at $3.29 (no sale) which makes it $.45/lb (after doubling). Not bad, but I'm wondering if I should wait for a sale. And stick to Aldi's in the meantime.
How often does sugar really go on sale? Can I get a sweeter deal than the canisters? (I like the canisters and use them for sewing storage) Or am I doomed to wait until December?

Do decent Q's come out then too?
The store brand that is available is just a few pennies less (literally) than the name brand after the Q.
Partly asking because my gram tends to stick with name brands on baking stuff. She can taste the difference, even in things like what sugar was used. She's like super-sensor for quality control.![]()

Not sure how to use the actual quote function. Sorry.
If that is the case, and you need sugar before it goes on sale in the winter, buy it.
Do you have a Walgreens? 4lb Domino's sugar is on sale for $2.19 before coupon.
I have a 20 minute drive to Walgreens. Never shopped there. Usually find deals closer that lead me to forgo the trip.
Does Walgreens double?
My Q's are $.75/any 2lb or larger, so that sounds like a good deal... better if it doubles.
Is that a sale, or do I need Walgreens q's for that price? Is there a limit? I have 10q's, so I'll definitely stock up if I can. Problem would be if they run out before I get there. and I certainly don't want to be the bad guy that clears the shelves.
But that price seems pretty good, even without doubling.

Paintbrush, no Walgreens doesn't double, but it's a good sale and if you have a .75/1, then you are walking out of there with a good deal.
Wags doesn't double and I think there is a limit of three on that Domino price. They may let you buy multiples in different transactions but if it is like my Walgreens you will be lucky if they have more than four or five bags total in the store.
I would say 50 cents or less a pound for sugar is decent. I don't buy name brand usually just whatever is cheapest. I am pretty sure Aldi's sugar is more than 50 cents a pound. I priced out Costco's at $5.99/10 lb bag.

it does end up being cheaper than the original price you stated OP:
$2.19-$0.75=$1.44/4 lbs=$0.36/lb
The limit is three in the ad though, and I would definitely consider the cost of gas driving 20 minutes each way to Wags. If you buy three bags you are only saving $1.68 for three bags over a $0.50/lb price. With gas over $3.90 a gallon here I start to reconsider some of my trips. =)

My dh has a client in that area, and he used to be weekly, but is now sporadic. If he gets an appt with him this week, I can get him to get the sugar.
I don't have a loyalty card yet. Walgreens is one of the few stores that is not in a 3 mile radius of me. But either dh or myself gets down to that area at least once or twice a month, so I think it would be a handy thing to have when we go.
