CHAT What are some items you would not otherwise have tried if not for couponing?

I love couponing, not only for the savings, but also because with coupon shopping I am now trying products that I normally would never have bought because I felt they were overpriced or just not something I was willing to pay for to try...

What are some of the items you have tried and now love thanks to the world of coupons?!

    Here's my list so far...

Cascade dishwasher packs... I thought they looked too expensive, blah blah blah, the cheap stuff works fine, etc. and would not try them... got some very cheap with coupons and now I LOVE them... nothing washes my dishes in the dishwasher as well.

John Frieda shampoo & conditioner.... wow... I paid only 49 cents each this week, and I just have to say, I LOVE THIS STUFF. I can see why it's so expensive.. it works darn good... would I buy it without coupons though? Probably not... but I love that I got it cheap enough to try and find out how nice it is!!

Nabisco Ritz Crackerfuls... they are sooo yummy. I got them for free with overage and so glad I did because they are one of my new favorite snacks!!

John Frieda shampoo & conditioner I would buy with out a coupon I love the stuff that much. Their root awakenings brand makes your head feel all tingly. Here in Texas my curly hair goes all wacky with out it. Gotta love the humidity. However, their Full Repair its in a red bottle for 9.99 here, makes my over processed dry hair feel as soft as silk and they have a serum that lets your hair stay straight for 3 days now. Waiting for the right deal to try that one.

Most recently, Nutella. But once I bought it I was shocked to see the first 2 ingredients are sugar and palm oil!!! This stuff is marketed as healthy and nutritious; I should have paid closer attention before buying. Now of course the girls love it but I'm not buying it again.

Juicy Juice - it was horrible.

    Fuze - girls love it.

Whoa, awesome if it makes your hair stay straight for 3 days!!! I had chemotherapy back in 2009 and my hair came back soooo curly afterward... and my hair has always been naturally stick-straight. Now that it's grown out a LOT it's growing more straight, but I still have some end sections that tend to get really wavy if I let it air dry and don't use a straightener at all... I don't want to cut them off yet since I'm still trying to gain my length... what is the name of the serum that you are referring to? I need to look for that! Plus, here in FL, we get the humidity like crazy, too, and my hair is a frizzpuff after 15 minutes outside.

My hubby bought Nutella to try it... I looked at the package and thought the exact same thing.. it's "healthy"? I think not!

Juicy Juice, wow, you guys hated it? My husband and son think it's the best juice there is!

I love the john frieda serum but it's still too expensive for my taste. I get a cheaper brand at walmart....way better money even without the coupon. I use Zero Frizz The bottle is 5 oz for about $5 and change.

I can never get the frizz ease serum for completely free...it's more then the other products..so there is always OOP expenses for me...and with that all you get is 1.69 oz and the last quarter you can't even get out of the bottle without a major hassle.

I have found no difference. We use frizz ease products for our hair me and the kids...but I'm done getting the frieda serum.

    vitamin water
Joint juice (my daughter loves both of these).

the toddler wipes. pull up wipes.

    Dannon Greek Yogurt

    snuggle

    kraft homestyle

    easy mac

    yakisoba

Smart Balance Milk - at $3.99 reg price for half gallon - NO WAY ! At 50 cents a half gallon - ABSOLOUTELY and love it but would never pay more than $1.00 per half gallon

Philly Cooking Cream - FREE is the best price and the product is good! Regularly $2.99

Sweet Moments - at $3.15 regular price, not a chance, but for 50 cents I bought them, love them and will wait for another deal another day

Smuckers Snack n' Waffles - reg price $3.29 - for FOUR?! Not in my lifetime would I pay that price but when I get them free I buy them, or as high as 75 cents they're worth it And they are really good! Just not at the price point they sell for.

Thanks for this thread. I'm new to couponing, so I don't really have anything to contribute. It does open my eyes to possibilities with couponing, though. The benefits of it just keep on revealing themselves.

When I teach a class, the first thing I tell those attending is when they look at ANY coupon, the question to ask themselves is "If the price was right, would I buy it?"

If the answer is yes, then clip and file that coupon.

If I get something free that I've never bought before, and we don't like it, I've lost nothing financially at all. And surprisingly, I've tried MANY new things because I either got them free or near free.

And it's amazing how many items we like but again, know that we'll get it only if it's a great deal and depending on the product, may be willing to pay up to 33% of retail

One product, Reynolds Crock Pot Liners. A box of 4 costs $3.19 regularly - aaakkkkk! But I will pay as much as $1.19 for them and have! But I will not pay retail, ever. Same with Reynolds No Stick Foil, very expensive but if I can get it for 75% off regular price, I'll stockpile it and do
