    QUESTION Walmart Vs.Winndixie Vs. Publix

Okay so I recently moved to a new area as a military wife I travel a lot.

I am still fairly new to couponing but I have my sunday paper routines down, I found this amazing site and I know to call around to the local stores around me to ask about their coupon policies.

Well as the title refers those are the stores I have in my general area besides a sweetbay which is just like a publix.

Winndixie has the store rewards card but they do not accept competitor coupons nor do they double.

Publix was accepting sweetbay competitor coupons since they are across the street but neither one of them accept each others coupons now or double.

Then I have walmart, who doesn't double but they do accept competitor coupons.

How am I supposed to have amazing savings without the doubling? Which store would be best for me to get the good savings? I live in a fairly small, dead town so I'm guessing thats why they aren't very competitive here or offer doubling to bring in more shoppers.

Please I need help any info would help me out!

    Well first off.

Walmart only accepts competitor coupons that have the price of the item on the coupon. so it's a FYI most competitor coupons they still won't accept.

To be honest...I don't stick to one store. Now I don't have a publix or a winn dixie...but I shop at Walmart, Dillons (kroger store), walgreens, target and occasionally FD, DG & a country market store to keep my OOP as low as i can.

I live in by West Palm and nobody around here doubles and if you check Publix coupon policy they double in other states but not Florida. I am in the same boat and hate it. Would love to have ways to save more. I would love to know why nobody doubles down here. If you find out let me know.

I'm in the Tampa area... we have the same stores that you have...

Publix and Sweetbay BOTH accept competitor's coupons here in my area...but Winn-Dixie does not.

Personally, I steer clear of Wal-Mart for nearly everything since I've found couponing at Wal-Mart to be a major hassle every single time I go...

I love Publix... they don't double, true, but you can still get amazing deals by shopping their BOGO sales with coupons. Same for Winn-Dixie, they have great BOGOs too... Publix beats them all, though, hands down, as for me getting my best deals.

Okay! thank you everyone for your feedback I appreciate it all. I am too in the tampa area, but publix just changed their policy on me here and are no longer accepting competitor coups. I do however notice they have really good deals. so I may start making publix my primary grocer.

Don't forget that Publix puts out many store coupons that can be used along with mfr coupons. This in essence is just as good as doubling, savings wise. Come on over tot the Publix forum. We keep track of the best deals each week.

Are you sure they are no longer taking competitor coupons? The policy did change, but as far as I know it's on a "per store" basis as for which competitor Qs they will accept... mine no longer take Walgreens and CVS coupons for items other than pharmacy prescriptions, but for other things they still take Sweetbay and Winn-Dixie coupons... each store is supposed to list the competitor coupons they WILL accept in the store by listing them at/near the entrance... double check, because as far as I could tell, the policy had not changed that much and should still be very worthwhile!!

I just checked back in today after I got the new coupon policy from them, they are still taking sweet bay. So I ran across the street and got sweetbays flyers of coupons plus publix's, I have my collection of man. coups and I am now making a shopping list! Wish me luck!

    btw.

I had to run in and get mayo real quick. publix has a in store coup for $2.00 off hellmans plus I had a manfactures coup of 1$ off. publix has a deal going if you purchase a hellmans product you get 2$ off your whole purchase. That was in the tampa area publix.

I too can shop at the commissary. I'm in Key West now and heading to Tampa. I started a spreadsheet of prices at the commissary for items that we use the most, or even what I've seen coupons for. I don't know if all commissaries have the same prices, I hope they do so that I don't have to do much updating on my spreadsheet. But I use those prices to compare at other stores such as Publix, Winn-Dixie, etc. to make sure I'm getting the best deal.

I like many of the Wal-Marts across the country but the ones in Tampa I don't care to shop at very much. They always seem really busy and not enough cashiers, though the one closest to MacDill wasn't as busy as the others but that may have been because it was newer and not many people knew it was there. It may be just as busy now as the others. Many of Wal-Mart brands are cheaper than others and taste just as good or even better depending on the item.

I shop at Publix, they have the best deals with the BOGO sales. Everyone once in a while I will venture to Wal-mart or Target if they have a great deal going on. But the Publix forum here will definitely help with your shopping! :)
