I dont like them..one reason they take Jobs from humans and here you cant scan the coupons the ONE person watching them has to take you coupons over to a desk and sacn them for you...you cant see what she is doing or if she scans them all or not, until you get home with time to set down and look things over

I've been using them at Fred Meyer for a while now...a year or more since they put them in. The cashier has to do the coupons, though. I always count how many I have so I know if they missed one. Won't necessarily know which one(s) they missed, but I'll know how many. I do my own bag credit code there too.

My Safeway is just now putting them in and I tried it out the other night. They let you scan your own coupons there! Yay! A cashier does have to approve at the end before you can pay, though. Took me a few to find where to put everything and the cashier gave me the bag credit code, so I won't have to ask again.

I use them for large orders and I don't care if it annoys anyone. My favorite cashier at Fred's was back yesterday after being gone from having foot surgery done. Was nice to have her back.

All of my stores require the cashier to enter coupons. It's not worth the wait for them to make their way over to my register (they all seem to really take their time). The only place I know that does let you scan your own Q's at the self-scanner is CVS. Their self-scan is a lot more user-friendly, too....

I prefer self-checkouts and always use them when they are available regardless of the size of my transaction, unless store policy prohibits large transactions at self-checkouts. I only choose to go to cashier checkouts when I'm using rain-checks or price matching.

I mostly use self-checkouts because I use reusable bags and most cashiers hate them. They can't just throw 2 or 3 items in a bag and open another. It takes more time and attention to place items in a reusable bag so that you can stuff it to it's capacity, and most just aren't willing to do that. If I make them use my bags they often throw 2 or 3 things in each anyway and move on to using plastic, and by then they are acting like I've done something horrible to them. So to me it's worth the effort to scan my own groceries so I can skip the attitude.

I think having a hand scanner to use as you add items to your cart would be so cool, especially if you could see the tally of your cart as you go. It would be so much easier than a calculator and probably more accurate.

As a rule, I will only use Self-Scanners at Stop & Shop they take most coupons without a hassle. I have notice that they now have an attendant watching 3-4 scanners. I won't use them at Shoprite because once you use more than 2 coupons it requires cashier intervention. They watch you like a hawk. I have enough stress at work without added stress at the grocery store just because I want to save some money.
