Default Has anyone ever paid for match-ups?

Do you think it's worth $5.99 a month to not have to scour the ads yourself? Please do not flame me or turn this into a bad post, I am just asking for info as I spend quite a bit of time looking for deals on stuff we use. anyone have experience with any sites where you pay to get match-ups? good or bad? thanks in advance.

I don't see why anyone would flame you but my opinion is no. Or I should say it would not be worth it to me.

    To each their own though.

Why pay for something that you can get for free here?

IMO, you should never have to pay for couponing information or advice because it is widely given for free across the internet on coupon forums and blogs.

If you really have money to burn, you may as well give it to someone who works hard and posts each stores deals for free... I am sure they would appreciate it! : )

Seriously, so many people post all the top deals for free, especially since they only offer all the most popular stores people talk about anyways.

I think by flaming she means reporting her post because it has email addy's on it and when folk spam they often put up similar threads (cmbearden...I think we know your not a spammer though )

since it's your post OP..can you edit out the email addy's

As for the actual question. I'd love to find out where they are finding Walmart ads to scour so you don't have too

I tried the "GG" for a couple of months..and just never hooked onto it. I find this place much much easier.

I agree with what others have said - a lady came up to me in the grocery store a few weeks ago (she saw my binder and giant stack of coupons, I'm sure) and asked me if I belonged to a similar site. When I asked her what it was, she said that her mom was a member and they posted deals and matchups for most major stores...of course I checked it out when I got home and imagine my surprise when I saw that it was 9.99/month!! I couldn't believe it!

I know I spend too much time on researching deals & match ups but really, that's because I like doing it and I'm just that kind of person. I will spend a month reading every review on the internet before buying ANYTHING! This is fun for me - I treat it like a hobby - so I don't mind spending time on it. With all the free information that's widely distributed on this forum, other forums and coupon/savings blogs - why would you pay someone for that same information? I definitely think you should save your money, use it for something else and formulate a plan to get the information you need in less time if at all possible!!

For someone that doesn't have as much time as I do (or doesn't care to spend their time scouring blogs, the coupon database and store ads for deals, lol) - all you need to do is bookmark the areas of HCW that are relevant to you (your stores, etc) and find one or two blogs that focus on the store/region that you need and plan an hour or so on the day your store ad comes out for the week to see what coupons you need to gather. I try to explain this to my friends (who all think they don't "have time" to coupon) that it is hard when your time is limited, but definitely possible and worth the savings!

NO!! I want to save not pay out $71.88 for a year when I buy the news paper each week for the coupons anyway which has sales ads in them..If you go to the store threads on here you can find deals or if you dont see what you need ask someone maybe able to help you and help others at the same time.

I see you are new to here are you new to coupons as well? If you are still pretty new to coupons/stockpling, you will get better at it and it wont take you as long to find the deals to go with the coupons..LOL I can find deals easy its just getting the coupons sometimes to go with the deals that takes the work..

You will find that some other states store ads change a few days before yours do but you have to do some searching for that. I do my kroger ad this way. The one I look at changes 3 days before mine dose so I can figure out what I want to buy that week if anything so I can try to find and get coupons for the item in the mail to me.

    i go with no

but you would still have to look at ad match ups and scour the site you are paying, to figure it out. you can do that here! you have mod's that post the ad and the matchups for you....and it is free. really you only have to look at the match ups and figure out what you are going for and make your list.

i can believe that someone is requiring you to pay for "their" service...but in all honesty, where do you think they are getting most of the information? more than likely they are scouring the free sites (like here) and rewriting or copying the stuff to their site. so they are getting it free and then charging you.

Several years ago after the free trial they offered, I did pay for GG for a couple of months. However even then I figured it wasn't too difficult to figure it out on my own, and at least at that time, they were only doing matchups to the sale ad, not the whole store. Between here and AFC, I get all the information I can handle for free, contribute where I can, and am thankful every week for the people who spend the time to do the matchups for us. As a matter of fact, I have raised enough interest at work, that we are going to start a weekly coupon exchange and list planning meeting to review the sales for the week and what the best buys are. Another lady is already into it as much as me, and 3 more are chomping at the bit to get better at it.

Originally I was going to say yes. But I was only saying yes because if I'm paying for the service, I would expect it to be a higher caliber than what we find on the free sites. But reading others that have tried it, it doesn't sound like it is.

Don't get me wrong, I love hcw. But if I'm paying $5-$10/month for matchups, then I would just expect them to be very thorough, on time every week, no holes or shortcuts, kwim? And cndij just posted that it's only for sales, not for the whole store--I would expect otherwise if I'm paying.

I had assumed (wrongly) that charging a fee enabled this folks access to either some sophisticated databases or software, but it doesn't sound like they do anything different that here.

And I think GG only does one of my grocery stores, and I float around to 3 or 4.
