I'd return them with the receipt at a different store...same chain so I had a different source.
No, it's not worth the bother. I would just toss them.
No, I would just toss them and contact the pet food company.
Yes, I expect the full price back from the store.
Yes, I expect the price I actually paid back from the store.
Given a previous post with regards to this topic, I thought perhaps a poll would be interesting with a different scenario. I am using animal food for the question, but if you don't have animals, think of it as cereal or another pricey item.
SENARIO:
You buy 3 bags of animal food using 3 high value coupons. You open them up to find bugs and more in the first bag. (turns out all three bags are bad) You will not be getting your coupons back and you will need to replace the bags of animal food, more likely at a different store as you would not trust buying in same place.

Are these MFQ’s or store Q’s? If they are store Q’s I would expect an exchange or store credit/payment refund of what I paid OOP. (although some stores will let you keep the discount if you accept a store credit instead of cash return)
If MFQ’s, I’d expect an exchange or store credit/payment refund of what I paid + Q value.
And I understand your example is nothing more than an example, but it could have just been a bad batch/lot and I would be inclined to tell the store if they opened a new bag/different lot and found no bugs, I’ll take that bag as an exchange no problem.
if it were dog food, id be high tailing it back to the store, complaining to them and then contacting the dog food company so they can do a recall if need be.
and I have 4 dogs!![]()

DO NOT send PMs, i wont get them!!
I had this happen with Ronzoni pasta once. I called the number on the package and they sent me coupons for free and more importantly they notified the store and the store was instructed to remove all the pasta of that brand from the shelf and they did it.
This was before I was couponing, I didn't use a coupon to buy it. However I would expect my full retail amount back if they weren't going to give me my coupons back...It doesn't change the fact I still would have to buy more and if those were the only coupons I had then I would be stuck paying full price anyway. The store is going to get the value of the coupon and the product will still be purchased by me AGAIN.

This was just an example to see what people thought about getting the full price (including coupons used) when there is a problem with the product. And it would appear from the small sampling of people that responded, that the majority of people would return the items to the store and expect a full and complete refund. Gathering from responses on the previous thread that was posted on this subject and this poll and comments, it would appear that ethically speaking, people believe it is ok to return and get full refund if there is a valid reason for returning items, such as it being defective and not just because you found a cheaper price elsewhere.
I had this scenario happen to me.
The store I returned it to were grossed out and returned the full amount. The store manager from the store location it came from, basically blew me off. And the company said the intruders probably came from transport, the warehouse or the store having possibly gotten in through a pinhole. To read more: Bugs, etc in Kitten Food Bag???
