    HELP When in the store...

When youre in the store with your binder/box/suitcase/luggage of Qs and you see someone else as a fellow Q'er, do you say anything? When people ask or are looking at something and you have an extra Q, do you give it to them? What about the people who ask you Questions?

I am running into this. First, its neat to see other Q'ers at the store and usually I say " Oh i see you use Qs too".. sometimes that strikes a convo. Yesterday the girl told me to save my Velveeta Q because I could get a Q to make it .50...then another woman and I stood in the meat aisle talking about her year break off Qs and how she was shocked at Extreme Couponing show on TLC. Sometimes I want to ask if they want to trade a Q, but I feel rude so I dont. Is that bad?
Today at Meijer the cashier and person behind me about had a heart attack when I only paid $2 for about $30 worth of stuff. They asked me how many papers I get, how i do it, etc. What are you suppose to say?

and i did FINALLY run into a negative nelly. The cashier let me go through the 12 items or less line and the girl who was behind me made a big hubabaloo about it.

I normally don't say anything I get my things and go, not much of a talker. I am usually in a hurry, so I have never asked to swap q's. If I see someone with an item I have a q for and I have multiples or aren't going to use it, I will offer it to them.

Ive seen people with binders. Some people comment on how they like my organization. Once at HT this couple asked if i wanted to trade coupons. First time i was asked. I gave them my febreeze coupons they were lookin for. I didnt need any in return. it was well different i should say lol. During super doubles or something if i see people getting something and i have an extra coupon for a good deal ill ask if they have a coupon for it and give them my extra. or even regular stuff if its a good deal and i have extra coupons and i see them getting it. They are usually thankful for the coupons! Some people have asked if i worked for the paper or something .my response was i wish! I tell them i buy multiple papers each sunday.

Heck yeah it's good to strike up a talk with a fellow couponer. You never know, that person might turn out to be a great friend.

As for trading, I see nothing wrong with asking them but if you have an issue being that direct you can tell them that you love trading and exchange emails or something so you an keep in touch to do that since you are obviously in the same general area.

I definately strike up a conversation if the other couponer seems open to it. I am allways giving away extra coupons. Only once did I actually trade with someone at the store.

I have tried to give coupons away and most people are rude about it where I live. I had a lady tell me that "I don't use coupons because I am not THAT POOR. Her husband wanted the coupons but she said "NO WAY I would rather pay full-price" so she did. I was so mad and embarassed because she looked at me like I was scum. I had other people just roll their eyes at me and say no I don't want any coupons so I mind my own business and watch their faces when they check out behind me when my total is so cheap. I just don't get most people and we are considered the "weird bunch", lol yes what is so weird for wanting to save money.

I'm with shelleyf, whenever I try and talk with people or offer coupons I get the rebuff or weird look, so I don't do it anymore. If I see a good deal and have an extra/not going to use coupon, I'll just leave it on the item and go.

If they talk to me first, I'll talk to them. But I'm not a "start up a conversation" kinda gal. I had a lady stop me one day and ask me how I put my coupon box together. She actually took out a little notebook and wrote down notes on what to do. But mostly, I just shop for what I need, and go home. I'm just not comfortable talking to people I don't know.

Well...except for all of you guys!

I have asked people if they want a coupon I will not be using and they are staring at the item in the store and they look at me like im from a whole different plant. .At my work everyone thinks im weird because of the coupons than they come over and they see my walk in pantry and it normally goes bad. I am in my 20's I take care of a 19 yr old brother who nonw stop eats and nobody helps us out a bit. In all honestly if my momma didnt teach me how to use coupons since I was a baby I would be at the food pantries looking for help. What is wrong with having 40 boxes of noodles? It has a coupole yrs to expire. At stores everyone rolls their eyes at me one cashier started to roughly throw my stuff in the bags, had to grab her arm and tell her to stop for the 3rd time.
RIP momma! You are my coupon queen 1/16/1963-7/12/2010 you would be so proud of me and my coupon using :) I love You

Usually, I am in and out the store, just getting what I need. I'm not one to strike up a convo, but if someone approaches me, I'll talk. I rarely see ppl with coupons, much less binders! Over the summer, I was in WM and had my binder opened looking for something and I got approached, lady wanted to ck my binder out, and said it was cool, but she didn't have time for something that elaborate. I told her it def needs constant upkeep.
Another time, a lady wanted to view my categories b/c she just started her binder and wanted ideas.

Recently, I asked this lady in front if she wanted a coupon for something cause I had extras (I saw she had a few in her hand to give the cashier) and she thanked me, said every bit of savings helps. But it took some courage to do so b/c I'd been told no in the past.
