But, I don't see what that has to do with the inconvenience of manufacturers setting rules for their products, anyway. What does putting change in a jar instead of carrying it in a pocket have to do with making a second trip to your car?

I believe that BostonRed was really just giving some examples of situations in which folks will continue on in life as they always have.

Meaning, those that wanted to use 20 coupons, will still use 20 coupons. They'll just make 5 trips.

Some that have 6 coupons & are told they can only use 4, will shrug it off & throw the other 2 away rather than make another trip. That's not laziness. It's just how they prefer to do it.

I don't believe BostonRed meant to insinuate that people who don't do things as others do them are lazy. We all have our quirks & perks in every area of life. I do believe that's the point she/he was trying to get across.

It seems like all you would have to do, is go through the checkout lane and use four coupons, then make a return trip, get four more items, and go through the checkout lane again.

So their restriction seems silly, because there is an easy way around it.

I once received a coupon from a store, Crabtree & London. The woman who worked there said I could not use it that day, that I had to use it on my next visit (this was not stated on the coupon anywhere). So, I walked out of the store, and walked back in five minutes later and bought something with the coupon. Her mouth was hanging open.

As others have said, the wording on the P&G coupons isn't preventing anyone from buying 12 bottles of Dawn at a time. You just have to pay full price for 8 of those bottles, return to the store at a later time, or go to a different store. It's not the manufacturer's job to make sure shopping is convenient for me. They provide a product which I can choose to buy or leave on the shelf. I consider it a courtesy rather than a right when a manufacturer makes coupons available. It's also a courtesy when a store chooses to accept coupons at all or to accept more than one like coupon. One of the CVS stores I shop at limited like coupons to 3 at one point. Most (if not all) of the Kroger stores in my area do not allow multiples of a coupon in the same transaction. I no longer shop at Kroger because doing multiple transactions locally was more hassle and stress than I was willing to put up with at my already coupon-unfriendly store. It's all about choices and making decisions within store and manufacturer rules that allow for the best outcome for my family. I think couponers are intelligent and determined. We can adapt to whatever guidelines folks throw our way.
