How would you use these coupons?

Recently, I purchased a L'Oreal mascara that was horrible. It clumped up and smudged and I hated it. I wrote to the company, and they said they'd send me my money back. But...here's what they sent me:

Three "coupons" that look like checks. They have my name and address on them, and are the size of a paycheck! They are for $5, $3, and $1. They say that they're good on any L'Oreal product, and can be used at any grocery, drug or mass merchandise store.

So...what can I buy to get the most out of these? Obviously, I need to wait for a really good sale to maximize them. But what can I buy? I don't wear makeup, except for a little mascara, and I really don't like theirs.

Give me some ideas!

Don't they make shampoo and conditioner...you could buy the really big ones at Wal-mart?

I totally forgot about their shampoo and conditioner! For some reason, my mind was stuck on makeup. Thanks!

Oh...believe me, I was NOT happy when I opened that envie! I re-read the email they had sent, and it said, "we want to reimburse you for the cost of the mascara." I guess they didn't actualy say "money"...but I assumed from what they said, that they were giving me my money back.

Now...mind you, I told them the PRICE of the item...not the SALE PRICE. So, if I wait for a good sale (can you say BOGO????), I should be able to really maximize these!

Also...here's what I think. They sent a disgruntled customer some coupons. They think that I won't use them, and so they won't really be putting any money out to make me a happy customer. But, I WILL use them, and they'll have to reimburse the store for the coupons.
