| Re: Stores that accept expired coupons (List them here) There was another thread where someone said their store accepted expireds because I was the one that asked about it.
Do the stores still get reimbursed for expireds or do they forgo getting that back for the business they got on the expireds?
I'm happy for people who have stores do this (we don't have any here) but I don't understand how it benefits the store to do this.

| Re: Stores that accept expired coupons (List them here) As far as I know stores do not get reimbursed for accepting expired coupons. They take the loss on it much like the do when offering doubles I think.
I think I heard that Dillions does accept expireds, was told that when I was in KC too.

| Re: Stores that accept expired coupons (List them here) I guess you could say that...I have heard for years that they do accept them but I don't think they want to encourage it.

Meijer, Butera, Food 4 Less, and Hilander (Kroger-owned, in Rockford) also do not accept expireds.
Ultra Foods takes expired coupons up to 30 days.
Dominick's (owned by Safeway) accepts expired up to a year(!!!), and will usually also take things like expired Wags RR's, as long as they are marked "manufacturer's coupon."
Even though Chicago is largely LOND (except for Hilander, which doubles to .50 everyday), the grocery market is very competitive. Stores like Jewel and Dominick's run really good Cats and promos, and will do special in-ad Q's almost every week. If you play them correctly, you can score some really phenomenal deals. In fact, Jewel has a dairy Cat right now that is giving free sour cream (on sale .99, get a $5 cat WYB 5 participating items). And Dominick's has $5/50 store coupons in the Entertainment book that you can stack, so that pays for itself.
I'm moving back home to Chicago in a few months, and am really looking forward to having Jewel and CVS and Meijer again, and to being able to use up some expireds at Dominick's!!!

Wow, the Ultra Foods in my area doesnt so it must be just the new stores up in Chicago and the burbs. Strack & Van Tils, Meijer, Jewel and Pay Low here wont accept them.
I would really hate to start driving up into Illinois to shop for groceries and pay that huge sales tax.

I recently found out that Ace Hardware accepts their expired homemailer $/$$ coupons. Too bad I found this out AFTER I tossed $20 homemailer. |
