I dumpster dove...and it wassss fun :)

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, feel free to move.

Anyways, I DID IT...I dropped off a ton of papers at the recycle bins a few blocks away, and they are now almost full....soooo I had to do it. Unfortunately it's a busy location and I didn't want to be too obvious so as I put a hand full in and then I quickly searched a few papers and pulled what I could. (I've made 2 trips since last night....of course dropping off more papers). If I could have just 1 hour to play in that thing....MAN that would be sooo fun :)

In my quick snatch and grab I landed 1 more $3 snuggle, 2 $3 Biz (should be able to price match at Target and get frees) to .55/1 Reese's for frees, B1G1 Busy bones, and 2 $3 off Beneful....I'm sure they'll empty them soon, but as long as their full at eye level...I might be making more paper drop offs over the next few days. Anyone else do this and how long do you spend looking? It was sooo exciting!

I have spent up to an hour looking. They know me by now at the recycling center and I'm not the only one. They told me there is a regular lady that stays about 3 hours and looks. I also look for coke points. No one even asks me anymore what I'm up to

In my county, we have recycling dumpster everywhere so I get to dumpster dive alot if I want. How much time I spend depends. Since I don't drive, DH and DD are usually waiting in the car so I try to be pretty quick. If I'm finding alot, I may spend a little longer-- 10-15 minutes maybe. Otherwise, I won't spend more than a couple minutes if it looks like that trip will be bust no matter how much time I spend.

On rare occasions, I get to spend as long as I want. Like at the dumpster that's right next to the park so DH can take DD over there to play while I dive. The last time we did that, I had the biggest stack of inserts I've ever had. And while I was rifling through them at the park, they all slid off my lap into the sand.

I may or may not have screamed, "My babies!"

My next favorite find, after good coupons, of course, is trashy magazines. I refuse to pay newstand price.

There is some sort of no salvaging law in my area so I haven't dd'ed cause I am not sure on all the specifics of the law. I asked at the recycling center when DS had a field trip there and he said he had never had anyone ask about papers but since there is that law and that some people toss confidential paperwork in the mixed paper bin he would not allow me to rifle thru it. OH well

I say "dive in". That's how I started getting coupons. I use to jump all the way in, stay in there and dig until I couldn't dig no more. It was fun but also scary. A couple of times I had people come by and drop off but didn't see me. Now my son jumps in for me and I'm the look out person.

lol...that is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My BF won't coupon with me, so I doubt he would help me with that type of mission, and my coupon buddies already think I'm crazy for reaching in and grabbing. I just gazed at the bin (there were 6 of them) and thought, I bet there's at least 2000 free cans of dog food...snuggle, reese's just sitting here wanting me to pick them up. I wanted to rescue them :))) Maybe I will go again tonight when the sun starts to go down...lol
