I dumpster dove...and it wassss fun :)

I just went back as the sun went down...hit 15 more inserts within 5 minutes! The location of the recycle bins were in the parking lot of a grocery store, off to the side..it's not trash cans but newspaper only recycle bins. Landed a few from this week and the past 3-4 weeks. Don't think I would dig thru a trash can, but something for papers only...nice and clean and quick!

I walk my dogs everyday. I have 2 neighbors on my side and they separate the coupons and put them on top the recycyling bin. However I have been known to *let my dogs pee on the bins*.....while reaching through to grab the sunday paper LOL.

ROFLMAO!! That just made me laugh so hard, not at you by any means but it would have gotten a similar reaction from me, because we so value FREE stuff and that pile was better than finding gold

Now, I have to start finding out where the paper recycling bins are around here! There have to be some I can pilfer from! I know, the question is, do I tell my hubby what I want to do - or not -

I think it depends on my success, I'll see if it pays off first. First though I have to find out where they are! I used to know years ago, right behind the high school in the entrance to the ballfield parking lot. Not anymore, so I have to do some research now, you guys have convinced me, it sounds like fun and it's highly profitable in the savings game!

yep I am in also,,,I do this every chance I get. The guys at the recycle place know my face now and they act as it I am not even there other than saying hi...

Did an online search, seems all the recycle places around Raleigh are explicit about no sifting through the bins :sad:

I'll have to keep my eyes open or maybe talk to some of the workers or something...I don't think there are any unmanned paper recycle places anymore, at least I couldn't find them online.

I have one down the street from my house but they just recently dumped it! I am not brave enough to "dive in" yet!! I noticed today the lid is open & all of my "treasures" are getting wet!! Might have to stop by & close it! I have been a few times with the kids in the car but they like to tell people "My mom goes through the trash looking for coupons"!!! If my DH finds out he will KILL ME! I am waiting on one of his friends to drive by there & ask him what in the HECK his wife is doing!! Anyway, I guess it will be awhile before I can get anything again! It is driving me crazy though because I have found ALOT of inserts in there recently!!!

I am waiting for the weather to warm up...I have just been too lazy to dumpster dive in the cold. Plus nothing in my inserts that have been real hot.

Last week i have e mailed our " recycling " company in Az - and asked them for permission to come by their " main location " where all the paper-dumpsters get emptied. well he replied back - basically saying " no way - will you get in that center.. we can't allow that "

and.. BTW - if you decide to go to the " dumpsters " - just be warned that you can get a citation for that- and some " coupon hunters " already have gotten one- just be careful
he said the " dumpsters " are belonging to who ever is the host of that location- so if you want to go the " safe road " and not get a citation- to first contact who ever is holding that dumpster- was it a church or a school, just go in and ask for p ermission first ..
So i decided to first ask a few locations before i started - i really don't want to get in trouble, and of course i always dump 5x more paper in the dumpster than what i get out..i'm not making them " short " on any money for the paper- but .. it's better to ask

I thought just to let you guys know .. and i'm really wondering " why people go when it's dark " .. if you think you are not doing anything wrong ? I mean you will get more " police or whatever attention in the dark than in the bright day light ? Or ?

And how in the world do you guys get the permission to go into that recycling center ???

I guess i'm just jealous .. i mean .. i would go for a picnic in there :))
