QUESTION Why are there state restrictions on some coupons and MIR?

I see this all the time on coupons and MIR. Why do they do this? I have always wondered why they do this.

Mods: If this is not the right place to put this please move it where it needs to go.

If you mean why do some states require alcohol purchase & some don't, my guess it is has to do with state laws, I noticed in Fl. they have actual coupons for alcohol (or alcohol & another item) in Ohio, we only have rebates, never $'s off if it includes alcohol purchase.

No, I meant that if you have a coupon that says can only be used in these states or if it's a MIR it has only good in these states. Why only in these states? I know some counties and towns in states have there own laws against acohol sales and such. I just want to know why on most MIR and coupons they put state restrictions...like only good in TX, NC, TN, etc. Why is it not good in all states?

And why does Rhode Island always get better deals? I have seen some rebates where it says "given at register in Rhode Island" (and all other states have to mail in for it) or a rebate limit one, except in Rhode Island limit 2. Why are they so special? lol

I know in PA your not allow sales on milk and some milk products. we have a dairy board that sets the milk prices . this week Giant eagle has a sale where you buy items and get a gallon of milk free. not in PA I live close enough to The Ohio border I go over there to buy my milk. a gallon of milk here around 4.00. across the border 2.68 a gallon crazy we have alot of diary farms here. But sometime in the 1980s the state would not allow them to sale their milk except to big corporate companies like dean's dairy. the corporation makes all the money . the farmers actually have lost a .25 a gallon in the last 5 years. but milk went up and it's lousy. we had Guresy milk delivered to our house when i was a kid. like a milkshake cream on top. the state said there was too much cream in their milk. dean adds water to the milk to lesser the cream ( making money on water) wish I had enough land for dairy cows.

PA actually has a minimum price for milk :-( It really sucks

I assume that because we have the State owned and operated Liquor system that is why we also don't have wine tags

Utah has state owned and operated liquor system. The only alcohol you can purchase at a reg store is beer. Yet they are included in most of the rebate offers.

I'm in kansas...and we get nearly zilch. Not sure about the wine tags here though....walmart doesn't sell wine..that I have noticed LOL, but I haven't seen state liquor stores here either.

interesting....
