If $3.00 is their normal price then they aren't loss leaders for the store! That coupon is payment to the store. The store is getting their full $3.00.

I've had cashiers balk at letting me pay so little. Their thinking is that the store is getting the short end of the stick on the deal. I simply educate them. I tell them "This coupon is payment. Granted, it's not from me but from the manufacturer. But that doesn't make any difference to your store's bottom line. You are still being paid $X amount." Of course, I tell them this very nicely. And if they still object, I ask nicely for the manager.

Actually, they didn't say loss leader, that was just way I phrased it here. Sorry for the confusion.
Our store is not known for professionalism. They see a coupon and Freak. lol
