They are bigger than the Quaker packets. I bought two the other week (they were b1g1 free) with $1 off coupns which made them .60c per box. They are ok tasting but not my favorite.
Ocean Spray is cheaper but only 8 packs.

Well, I have a stockpile of all varieties. I found some interesting results.
The Ocean Spray has 8 packs per box and each pack is 1.51 ounces.
Let's look at the different Quaker varieties:
Regular 10 packs per box and 1.51 ounces per box.
Healthy Heart 10 packs per box and 1.23 ounces per pack.
Grits 12 packs per box and 1.00 ounces per pack
Crunchy only 6 packs per box at 1.23 ounces, but 6 packs of crunchies.
Supreme is 8 packs per box and 1.41 ounces per pack.
(I have ZERO idea why the supreme has to be microwaved only. Will I die if I do not use the microwave?) :shrug7:
Finally....DRUM ROLL....
WEIGHT CONTROL....8 packs per box and 1.58 ounces per pack. So much for losing weight, if the packs have more ounces than any other variety. :shrug7:
I think the point is that the larger amount of oatmeal with all that fiber is supposed to help fill you up. The weight control types have 160 calories and more fiber and protein than the other types. The regular varieties have a range of calories, some lower than 160, but they are less in ounces.
Personally, I'm a big oatmeal fan and I always add a little bit of plain old oatmeal (the kinds that comes in the tube) to my instant oatmeal. One pack is not enough, so I add the regular stuff, it tastes the same, and I'm satisfied, but it's much cheaper than eating two packs a day.![]()
Calories....very good response.
Here you go, and the regular flavor I have is banana nut and some other regular could be different calories per pack.
Variety - packs per box - ounces per pack - calories per pack
Ocean Spray - 8 - 1.51 - 160
Quaker Regular - 10 - 1.51 - 170
Quaker Grits - 12 - 1.00 - 100
Quaker Supreme - 8 - 1.41 - 150
Quaker Healthy Heart - 10 - 1.23 - 130
Quaker Crunchy - 6 - 1.23 - 190
Quaker Weight Control - 8 - 1.53 - 160
calorie wise it looks like healthy heart has the lowest ounces and calories per pack other than the grits. However, I like sweet grits so I add alot of sugar to sweeten up the bacon or other ingredient.
It looks like Healthy Heart is best for weight control.
any ideas on why the Supreme MUST BE, OR DIE, microwaved?
What do the instructions say on the other oatmeal packs? Do you pour boiling water into the oats and let it sit for a minute and stir?
Instant oatmeal is precooked, so you just have to add boiling water to bring it into an edible state. Maybe the "supreme" isn't precooked, so if you add water to it and then put in the microwave, then it is actually COOKING the oatmeal in the process.
There's a difference between oatmeal and quick oats. Being that one is precooked. So maybe that makes the difference.
It's 35 cents off of ground round,Baby, cut that coupon out! That's what I love about Sunday

I've forgotten and just added hot water to it and it tasted no different.
The box just says "microwave only" as if there is some danger.
Similar to some cans of soup that have this HUGE warning: DO NOT add water. Well, excuse me, I will add water if I want to.
I think instant oatmeal is nasty. lol Doesn't take that much longer to cook it on the stove as it does to boil the water for instant.
