| Anyone else not 'green' I don't want to start a debate, i am just interested in seeing if there are others like me out there .
We aren't silly about things and we are price conscious, but we are not green.
We recycle, well my boys do, their idea to get mone,y after they went with my dad to the recycling center.
We turn off our lights to save money.
We burn excess paper to leave room in the trash can for other items.
I use reusable bags to get bag credit and because they are cute.
I guess i am green by association.
We don't stress about it though.

| Re: Anyone else not 'green' Aww you sound pretty "green" to me! I think people have this misconception that you have to be some kind of environmental activist, drive a hybrid car, and have solar panels in your house in order to be green. In my opinion, doing daily things like recycling, being mindful about energy usage, etc. is pretty good in itself. You're doing better than most people. I would consider myself green (and I have to give a plug to my dorm in my university, which is LEED certified, and so awesome- it makes everything so much easier) but I'm not over the top or ridiculous about it. I do my best every day to be responsible and mindful, and that's all anybody can do.
My family, on the other hand, is pretty... un-green. They just really don't care. :shrug7: |

| Re: Anyone else not 'green' I don't know how green we are.
I like the grocery sacks...but I have 2 in diapers and change at least 5 bm's a day...so they come in really handy.
We don't recycle as of yet....tiny little town, not sure where yet, but I'm game if I can figure out where and it's not too far.
I've got a garden...I consider that green.
The thing is I don't consider everything "green" to be actually green.
for instance clothe diapers...I'm all for letting people do what they wish....but there are just as many environmental consequences to clothe diapers as disposable. Your either adding to the landfill (and the making of the diaper in general) or your putting poo into the grey water system, using more water, gas (to make the water hot) and electricity to wash and dry. If you speak to the landfill guys...they'll probably tell you to use clothe, if you talk to the water guys....they'll tell you to use disposable.
So there is where we stand I guess |

| Re: Anyone else not 'green' OP--
YOu are doing just fine! I agree with Hellokitty, there are SOOO many LITTLE things everyone can do to make a big difference!
Its the people to INTENTIONALLY do things NOT to be green that bug the crap out of me. Or the ones who just don't care.
Where I live, recycling is optional, but free. You don't even have to sort anything. Just throw it all in the green bin, stick it out on trash day, and... THEY TAKE IT!
YOu know what? I am ONE of TWO people in my entire neighborhood who does it. WTH?

| Re: Anyone else not 'green' In our last town it cost $20 bucks a month to recycle...so we didn't do it, and instead dropped off newspapers and cans at the kids school (they had bins).
If they had that option here of recycling I would go for it in an instant. But there isn't, and I doubt anytime soon there will be. |

We don't stress about it though. | I think you're pretty green as well. Recycling is recycling - getting money for it is just a bonus!
Honestly, if more people did their part to conserve money, they are likely conserving energy and thus resources in the process. |
