I do the "easy stuff" recycle esp. aluminium (because it pays) and glass (easy enough) Paper not so much...sometimes. I use alot of it under the catboxes does that count?
We turn out lights and stuff, again to save money.
We have one vehicle don't see aneed for 2 but it's a'93 Dodge Grand Caravan. Hey, it was given to us, runs, and I'm keeping it from the junkyard.

Oh, and I reuse the plastic grocery bags for the little trash cans, cat litter, when I do a yardsale and give them to the thriftstores 9they always need them)
I have reusable ones but i forget to take them most times

We joke that because my family's (on dad's side) primarily PA Dutch that we were "green' before the phrase was coined. My dad reused EVERYTHING and wore it completely out before it went into the garbage. He had this jacket from the 50's that was more patches than original cloth

He was great at "MacGyvering" things too.

I see people conserving more and more on the average everyday which is a good thing... We are nowhere as enviro-minded as we should be.... but... we are getting better. There is one community in Wisconsin that doesn't use recycle bins... but... they use prison help to sort trash into recycles.

I've always reused or bought used things out of frugality. More recently I've been trying to be more actively "green". I saw this video on another thread here and it really amazed me. I suggest everyone watch it. It gets really interesting at about the seven minute mark.

I agree that we don't think of ourselves as green. We do small things to conserve electricity and water, we recycle thru the city (it's free and there is no sorting required) we buy used, we keep using/reusing/fixing what we have, as the tightwad gazette calls it 'making it, making do, or doing without'.

The benefit to us is that it saves us money, so that is our motivation.

I try to put as little as possible in the trash. We have to drive about 15 miles to the recycling place but they take everything. We do have to pay if we drop off a big appliance. We have enough room that we only have to go once a month. We live in the country so we have a compost. I give away or take to Goodwill anything that is usable. I don't want a landfill under a huge part of the country. I think we owe it to future generations.

I try my best to be as "green" as I can. I do recycle my newspapers...(GREAT excuse for "recycling" other peoples inserts into my hands!!) My challenge to myself is to try my best to use everything atleast twice. Between global warming and my hot flashes...we really can't take any chances!!! Hehehe

I've realized that the more and more frugal I get the more 'green' I get as well. I think the two go hand in hand. If you're trying to save money, then you're trying to be green, without really trying

I'm not very green but when I think about it, I guess I am in some ways.
Don't use much electric, save on the bill.
watch out how much water we use
We have what i call garbage pickers, Yes i have done it myself. I leave them in one big pile the stuff I know they will want. I always throw my pop cans on the ground for them nice neat pile. its not worth my time to turn them in. They know I leave the cans for them. I tell them every week heres your cans.
We have a recycle center that buys everything, metal, aluminum, plastic, glass, appliances. cars, copper. So on trash night you can put anything out there and its gone in 15 minutes. Put a nice neat bag of clothes out there and its gone also.

I try to be as green as I can. I reuse wipes boxes for anything in the house everytime DH opens one he gripes cause it doesnt have wipes it has either coupons or odds and ends in them. LOL I do use reusable bags. I also sometimes forget. I also recycle my plastic bags at the grocery store. They have a bin in the front of the store where you can bring your bags back to be reused. so when I bring in handfuls I feel a little better. I also reuse those big cat little pails for things around the house. I reuse boxes from items to wrap presents in. I really only dont feel safe reusing plastic baggies that have been used, I feel it would be unsanitary even if it is washed. I recycle newspapers at a friends when they haave there weekly bonfire. They love the donations for there fun nights. we also take old boxes, and whatever can be burned but not give off anything bad into the air. kwim? We try.
