In Missouri...you don't pay tax. Yes yes yes use coupons...sometimes I even got money back (which I have no idea how I did that)...so they'd give me 10 cents back LOL

Tell your friend I really needed that laugh. Let me see if I can explain this correctly. On Food items you dont pay tax with or without using coupons. On non-food items You pay tax on the amount it rings up before coupon is deducted. Either way if you figure you pay tax on the coupon itself, and then the tax for the deducted amount, it still comes out to retail price. Its hard to explain:hectic1::hectic1:HTH

We only got fs one time and that was after Hurricane Ivan and we lost everything in our fridge/freezer. We used coupons and really stretched the $$ that one month. Our friends have been getting fs for years and didnt understand why we would use the coupons with the fs since we were "gettin the food for free anyway". They are still getting fs (a HUGE amount to me) and dont use coupons and I always think to myself, just let me go shopping for you one time, just one time.... LOL Oh, this is in AL if that makes any diffrence & here, as far as I know, it wipes the tax out when you swipe your EBT card.

Once I went shopping for/with her and we were using coupons and food stamps and the total came up negative(meaning the store owed us money) from the tax forgivness(I think if you use food stamps, it even forgives the tax on soda).
IDK. Here in Miami, last month my sis and I were at Target and they had the Swiss Tea $2 for a gallon. I gave her the $1 coupon for it and she paid the dollar remaining with her F/S. She was charged the 7 cents tax for using the coupon. So, again IDK. 7 cents for a gallon of tea is not a bad price to pay. But, if edible items are supposed to be tax-free, they should still be tax-free even with a coupon.

This is how it works at some stores in Ga but at others, it seperates it and does not affect the ebt.

I always tell everyone to do seperate their transactions into "food" and "non food" so it does not take the money from their ebt.
I still do not understand how or why it does this at some stores!
