Default I need to Stop! How many papers should I buy?

Really, I'm out of space and don't need anything. I will need eggs, milk, and not much else. So tell me, when you decide to quit shopping, (Please tell me I can quit. I feel an obsession here.) how many papers do you buy just incase? I'm only getting 4 now, down from 6. Should I keep buying that many or cut it down. I was hoping to stop before the LW promo at Safeway, but just had to have one of those great rolling deals before I quit. I'm sick of shopping! Do I stop reading the boards to avoid temptation? :shrug7: I think my mental health needs a break from this. I'm afraid of missing something. Pathetic!

I stopped with HBA a while ago. I will pick up an occasional HBA freebie as the IP's become available. I need to work a bit on food and cleaning supplies.

I haven't bought a Sunday paper in ages. I would cut down to one paper or none. You are in a position to choose your deals as you wish.

If this board is too big of a temptation, take a break. There are many facets here that do not focus on deal hunting.

I've been coupon super shopping since 1970 and have taken several extended breaks from any shopping over the years. Drop down to one or none regarding Sunday papers. The only thing I've found to alleviate the "guilt" or pied piper "draw" regarding stacks of coupons piling up is to stop buying the newspapers. There's no temptation if you have no coupons.

While there was no internet back then, we had oodles of refund/coupon newsletters & magazines. I was subscribed to a dozen or so and I still read them but had no compulsion to rush out for just one more deal. Look at it this way -- There's always another coupon deal down the road -- although I've yet to see any freebie "refund/rebates" offers remotely resembling the amazing Kool/Salem & Marlboro deals of the 80's & early 90's!

Thanks, I repped you both. I have been thinking I was stocked up for a few months, but then I would find something else to stock, or something was dwindling. I think I will get one paper on Sunday like you suggest. I have a friend who gives me her inserts after she takes a coupon or two out. I figure I would still like the dog treat coupons, especially with Albertson's doublers, if I am going that direction. The dog seems to be asking for more treats. It's like she knows there is a stash. And no she isn't getting fat. I wish my figure was as good as hers. It will be hard when there are free things and I only have 2 coupons. But oh well. I'll see how it goes. One mustn't be greedy.

Yes I agree just buy the one paper & if you get another set from your friend you'll still be able to get a couple of the deals. This way you won't get so overloaded with coupons & stuff but will still be able to shop if you WANT to. Good luck!

your post made me laugh! i always wonder how everyone else's dh or sig. other handles all of the stockpiling/couponing. Mine wants me to stop or slow down. he doesn't get it when i get more than one of something. He says if we don't need it why buy it. Well lets think..... if i can get it for free or almost free and its something we need/use then why not.
i too am addicted to coupon shopping. :smile77:

Mine didn't get it at first either. He now knows, you don't buy when you need it, you buy it went it is on sale and you have qs, because when you need it you will pay twice as much, or more. He laughs because I no longer go shopping, --- "I do the deal." He'll say: "Are you going to work a deal today." Sounds shady.

Ugh! I know how you feel.
Sometimes I feel like saying forget this, throw out every insert/coupon I own and live off of whatever I already have.
Man, I stop and think sometimes, How the heck did it get this deep.......
Actually, it was a necessity when we had our first child ten years ago and needed to slash expenses....Its been a life habit ever since.
Its a Love/Hate coupon relationship.

I would buy 1 paper a week cause I am a visual learner and need to "see" the coupon. Then order multiples from a clipping site. That way you only pay for what you want/need to stockpile.

My new plan is to check the previews of the drug/grocery store sales and order coupons for whatever I need to stockpile. Saves time and energy and even money.
