Default **BEWARE** I just got a "phishing" paypal email

I believe this to be a phony email claiming to be from paypal. It says:

We recently have determined that different computers have logged onto
Your current Credit Card entered in your PayPal account was refused.
Please enter another Credit Card.
Please solve this problem as soon as possible so your account won't be suspended.
Click on the following link to log in:

This email does not make any sense to me so everyone be aware of fraud. I forwarded it on to PP just ot make sure!.
The news was just saying because of the downed economy fraud is on the rise big time. HTH someone!
MODS: sorry if this is not in the right forum!

I get these frequently for paypal. For all those who don't know - an easy way to find out if the email is legit - when you click on the link - if the url doesn't include paypal.com in it - its not from paypal.

But also - paypal will never tell you to verify credit card (or other similar) information

Rule of thumb: Never click on any links in emails. Go directly to the site and login there. I get tons of those from Ebay, Paypal, various banks (that don;t even exist where I am), winning sweepstakes from other countries, someones died...I need you to get my money, Craigslist scams....you name it. I can spot a scam a mile away.

Tha sad thing is there are people who fall prey and loose so much.
I NEVER click on any link that I am not sure of. That is how you get viruses as well.
I knew this was a scam because it was asking for me to enter a credit card #. Paypal does not do this. Also I noticed the way it was written was really bad. Poor english skills.

DH gets these all the time, we think based on what he bids on through Ebay and the fact that he has one username across the internet for everything...

we forward them to PP and just laugh.

What I usually do is reply to the stupid thing and tell them I give no personal info over the internet or phone. So quite wasting my time as well as theirs. I usually don't get anymore from them.
I always just go on paypal or ebay's site without clicking the link.

If you go to Capital One's website to log in, you can see that they're also aware of a new phishing scheme using their name.

While it's along the same lines as the advice from the first few posts, emails from any bank / CC company (including this one) that ask for your personal information should be deleted!

I get these frequently and all you have to do is forward them to spoof@paypal.com and they will reply to you and let you know if it is a scam or not! I never reply to ANY emails I get from paypal because 99.9% of the time they are scams!
