Default Return Items--Get Manufacturers Coupons Back?

I bought several boxes of cereal today and found out when I came home it has an artificial sweetener I'm sensitive to. I used five different manufacturers coupons to help pay for them and I'm wondering if I return the cereal, will I get the amount I actually paid plus the actual coupons back so I can use them on a different variety of cereal or will I get the actual amount paid and forfeit the coupons? if I don't get the coupons back what will the store do with the coupons? Will they redeem them with the manufacturer if someone else buys the cereal and doesn't have a coupon?

Depends on the store and how quickly you go back.

The stores SHOULD give you the full value back if they cannot provide your coupons back to you. If they keep them, they are getting credit from the mfr, and therefore are defrauding you/mfr by profitting off the situation.

If you return quickly enough (like the same day/within hours if its a big store), they should be able to locate your coupons to give back fairly easily.

I went back to the store and got the full value (price before coupon) on each box of cereal and the store kept the coupon. Just curious, what will the store do with the coupons? Will they redeem them with the manufacturer if someone else buys the cereal and doesn't have a coupon? I don't want the store to lose out.

The store will return the coupon to the manufacturer for reimbursement. So everyone should come out even...

They will turn them in, most redemnption policie only require they can prove sufficient merchandise moved to cover the amount of coupons. Since we know only a couple percent of coupons are ever redeemed they sell many more boxes without coupons than with. So no problem on their side.

I've always gotten back the full value the few times I've needed to return something purchased with coupon. One time I had to argue since their printed policy was "discounts may be deducted from return value" but couldn't furnish the coupons.

How does CVS do a return on products purchased with ECB'S AND GIFT CARD. I purchased some products and realized the ecb's didn't print out after the transaction was complete. Now with this knowledge I have spent my 25.00 gift card and used 18.00 of ecb's and I want to return the products. How does this work.

You can call CVS - the 800 # is on the back of your card - and if you purchased the qualifying products, and the ECB's didn't print, they will make them print out at the end of your receipt "the next time you make a purchase at a CVS" - as long as it is 2 days after your call.

As for returning items to the grocery store when you used cpns to purchase them, I've had to do that a couple of times - to 2 different locations of the same store (Giant in PA). Each time I was refunded the amount I paid after the cpns. I even asked for my coupons back since they were only giving me the amt after cpns, and they thought I was joking and walked away! About a week ago I had to do this, and made the point that they were still going to be reimbursed the money for those cpns, but now I don't have the coupons to use next time, AND am only being reimbursed the purchase price after cpns, so Giant is actually making $ by me returning those items. The CS woman was nice, but patronizing, and said I just didn't understand.
    I really don't think it's too complicated!!!!

My local giant just "loves" to keep the coupon and subtract the amount from your refund, which I thought was wrong of them, but then again 7 times in a 2 week period they have overcharged me for sale items and then complained to me about me demanding they honor the sale prices! they have even commented that with my coupons i paid less than the advertised price so what does it matter? so since they are sooo in love with me, now wait if i ever have another return for them they better have my coupon to give back or I will tell them it's fraud to keep it... lets see how much more they love me then!!! the way they act when I hand my coupons over you would think that the employees are having to refund the store for the coupons I use and the managers are worse than the cashiers, I have had 1 say to me that it was only a dollar what is the big deal?( once i use a certain percentage of coupons, usually around 3-5% it requires a key and code to enter the remaining coupons and she got tired of having to ring them in 1 by 1) my response was, it was my dollar and I purchased the item so I want my coupon subtracted otherwise they could start digging through my cart to find the hand soap and take it off my order and lets see how that jams up your machine! I have to say I got my dollar but never did get it with a smile! I guess you cant have it all!!!

you need to check your store's policy - at our local Giant and Weis stores their policy is that if an item doesn't ring up at the correct price, then you get that item for free, and if you purchased multiples of the item, the first one is free, and they have to refund the difference on the rest of those items so that you pay the correct price.

I wish K-Mart had that policy - they CONSTANTLY overcharge!!!!!!
