Second goal - send in as many rebates as I can and use these to start a Christmas fund. By December 2009 I would like to have $300 in a Christmas account. Is this too high? or is this too low? I have already sent off for $25 in rebates.
That is definitly doable. There are some Great Rebates throughout the year. I have received $10 back on just 1 rebate.

I did forget to add that to my goals....to send in more rebates. There is the Pepsi rebate, right now:

Where you can get $15 back.

Good Luck!

Default Re: 2009 Goals

1. I want to spend from now until May (when #2 is due) building up a good stockpile. We'll have a 13 month old and a newborn, so I want to have enough of everything so I can cherry pick deals and not have to spend a fortune on things just because we're out.

2. Pay down all debt and work on cleaning up my credit.

3. Put more money into savings each month.

4. Stick to $75/wk for all groceries, stockpiling, hba, diapers and non-rx medicine.

5. Lose all the baby weight by December (I'm still carrying weight I gained from DS, who's 8 months now lol) 135 pounds here I come!

Default Re: 2009 Goals

My goals seem pretty similar to most others:

1)- Eat to live not live to eat (in other words more "good" food less junk)

2)- Save $10,000 ...

3)- Be grateful for what I have (job, health, home , family )-in other words stop the whining...

4)- Use my time more efficiently- cut back on the TV....

5)-find joy in my everyday life...

6) Read....

7)- Keep in touch with friends/family

That;s it-
Happy 2009!!!!!!

HAPPY DANCE Re: 2009 Goals

1. Be healthier over all. (losing weight would be nice, but that'd just be a "side effect")
2. Cook more (I'm vegetarian.. and no one else who lives with me is and usually end up eating lots of crap because I'm too lazy to cook)
3. Spend no more than $250/month on groceries, pet supplies, etc (it'll be hard because I use high quality pet food that doesn't go on sale and isn't even available at most stores.. and that's usually at least $75/month)
4. Pay off at least $5k of my debt (almost half of it!)
5. Get a 3.0 GPA in all my classes
6. Organize/clean out/throw out all my junk
7. Read at least a book a month
8. Get at least $500 into emergency savings
9. Keep track of my savings/spending & also how much I buy individual items for, so I can better recognize good deals
10. Shop for my mom so she can have more time for herself and save tons of money (she doesn't understand hardcore couponing and doesn't have the time)

Ahhh.. lots to be done!

Default Re: 2009 Goals

My goals go like this:
1. Get a roof over my head. I already have the house, but I need a new roof. I think it will cost about $5,000. So I'm signing up for every possible earning activity at school including Saturday "Credit Recovery" (sort of like summer school). I will now be working 6 days a week, but it will be worth it.
2. Lose weight. I signed up for Weight Watchers at Work, which we get at a reduced rate through our insurance program. Then I signed up for the walking track at the rec. center. I'm rather excited about this goal because I feel good when I walk.
3. Declutter. My house looks fine, but my cabinets overfloweth. How many casseroles can one person cook, for example? But I own maybe a dozen casserole dishes of various sizes. That sort of thing.

By the way, to those who put "rebating" on your list . . . try opening an online savings account for REAL rebates. I call those things I would buy anyway (basically the beer rebates). In two years, I now have saved over $600. I may have to use that toward the roof, but I hope not. I'm rather vain about it. Lol.

Happy New Year's to you all. We are ALL going to rock in 2009 because we are frugal when the rest of the world isn't.
