Default overage??? Vent

Ok, I know everyone thinks overage is BAD. But I really see it a different way...if you buy something that will be free with that particular coupon why can't you just add something to you purchase to make sure you are not in the negative. The company can't give you money back...I understand that but when a company takes a coupon they will get paid by the manufacture of the coupon for that total amount of the coupon. Sooooo, who looses out...the buyier! The company is going to get their money regardless.

Last night, I went to Publix and I had overage on items and this time I really didn't calculate well before I went to the cashier and I would have gone into the negative before I could tell her that I would add to the purchase she called the manager over and he and 3 others picked through the items I had already purchased and were looking through all the coupons. They made me feel really uncomfortable, ending result I didn't purchase my second transaction because they told me I couldn't use coupons even some of their store coupons because there was overage. I just don't get it I even went over to stocking stuffers to add to my purchase.

what does everyone think?

I don't think overage is bad. Overage is the reason I ended up with over 30 Perts in my closet. For me, overage is a very simple issue since none of my stores double/triple coupons. They aren't losing anything.

If I purchase an item on sale for 97 cents, the store expects to receive 97 cents for it. They're not expecting to recoup the difference between regular and sale price. So if I use a coupon worth $1, the manuf. is giving them the 97 cents and giving me 3 cents. Why should they even care what the manuf. gives me?? Plus the store gets an 8 cent handling fee in addition to their 97 cents! That's money they would not have had if I didn't use that coupon. They should be happy. I know I am. LOL

I LOVE overage! And I've argued with cashiers to get it in the past, but honestly I don't fret over it too much anymore. If I can get it I'm happy but if not I probably just won't buy the item.

On the other hand, getting overage using rebates is way less stressful so I focus on that more. :)
