Default Canned veggies?

We go through a lot of canned or frozen veggis here, and I'm getting really low on my stockpile! I got these at the bent/dent for $.25 a can, and the bent/dent is no longer open, so I'm sweating it! I've never used coupons on groceries that much till this month, and I've not seen any good deals so far....so I'm asking the pros!

About how often do they go on sale....and if they do, is it usually something worth stockpiling? What do you usually pay for cans? I'm so lost! :shrug7:

I'm not really a pro but I will tell you what I do. I watch for sales in the sales paper,I use a lot of store brands (I don't see much if any difference in the green beans), and if I find any coupons and the price is right, I will use them. A store near me just had their store brand peas, corn and green beans on sale for 50 cents a can. I stocked up. Since its just my husband and myself, this will last awhile. If you have a lot of different stores in your area, one of them is bound to have can veg. on sale sooner or later. Also, with the holidays coming up on us, the stores always put canned veg. on sale. The stores also, will run specials to clear their warehouse of the older canned veg. to make room for the new canned veg. from this summer's harverst. If you can make it till then, that will be a good time to really stock up. Hope this helps.

Do you have an Aldi's nearby? They don't take coupons, but they sell canned veggies cheaper than the big-name stores. I haven't bought any lately, so I'm not sure of the price.

We only have Publix, Kroger, Save a Lot, Target & Walmart. The cheapest I can get them usually is $.50 anyway at Walmart. I was just wondering what the "norm" for canned veggies price wise was while couponing. I haven't bought name brand in so long I honestly don't even know what they cost these days!

The only q's for canned veggies I've come across lately are the $1/3 Veg-All q's. At my Walmart, Vegall is $.93/ea so I end up paying about $.60/can. Libby's, the cheap brand of canned veggies at my Walmart runs $.58/can everyday. At the beginning of August, Walgreens had a sale on Green Giant canned veggies for $.62/can which is over $.50 off per can, and I love Green Giant, so I bought up to the limit (8 I think) but now it's back to Libby's or Veg-All with q's until Walgreens runs that sale again!

There's a .50/3 libby's canned veggie ip. Also, have you thought about frozen vegetables? At Wal-mart the Green Giant Valley fresh vegetable steamers are $1.23. There's a 1/1 ip @ boodle, coupons.com, & bettycrocker.com. I don't think .23 is a bad price, they had peas, corn, broccoli, mixed veggies, & maybe green beans.

On my last trip to the grocery store, I checked the prices on canned veg. Store brands are about 58 cents and named brands are $.98 to $l.12 a can. I went to Aldi's to get milk and they had canned veg. for $.45.

Publix has a sale on GG Steamers for 50% off. I had two ip coupons for $1/1. I got two bags for $.38. This is a great price since I have never bought them before and don't know if I will like them or not.

in the early fall, canned veggies go on sale and there are a few coupons that come out for them. It seems like I paid .12- .17 a can between the coupon and the Kroger sale. I bought enough for the entire year. My cabinet is beginning to look a little low on peas and green beans...our favorite. I can't wait to stock up again!
