Coupons with no bar codes

I have tons and tons of No Expiration Date manufacturer coupons from eons ago. They're so old that they don't have UPC codes on them. Are these just trash at this point, or can they still be redeemed by today's modern cash registers?

Any advice is appreciated.

I found a bunch of those coupons at my moms house. So I tried to use 1 that was 25 cents off of a secret deodorant at Walgreens. The cashier said that it wasn't a real coupon and wouldn't accept it. So I just thru mine away. It wouldn't hurt to try but I just gave up.

Not a "real" coupon. *snorts* Must have been a fairly young cashier as those kind of coupons were still coming out in the 80's. I have a bunch myself, after finding my old misplaced coupon box. I'll use one now and then, but they're all pretty much nickle/dime stuff. I would think most registers have a "vendor coupon" key.

I figure if the product still exists and the coupon doesn't have an expiration, then I'll use it. I just only use one or so at a time.

I got a coupon from a small company by mail the other day that didn't have a barcode. It took a cashier and two supervisors to figure out how to redeem it.

At least they took it!

I have a lot of old coupons like that. As long as its the correct size I use them. The cashier just has to manually enter the coupon. I have never had a problem using them.

I wrote Newman's Own and they sent "certificates" for free products. No bar code. I haven't had the guts to use it yet. I may wait until our new Whole Foods opens up. Not sure what to do.

Yeah, they can still manually enter coupons. Not a real one? What a crock!
