I am pretty new to this and have been able to get toothpaste, toothbrushes, deoderant and things like that for free. What I really want to stock up on are snacks. I seem to spend a lot of money for snacks for the kids for lunches. How is it you aren't paying for snack foods? Please fill me in on your secret!!

Some snacks I've gotten recently at the Kroger mega sale:

100+ Keebler Fudge Sticks
200+ Betty Crocker Cookie Mix - have to make the cookies, but since I got them for free and will be able to get a $0.10 boxtop off of each one, I got them anyway

I have a huge stockpile of snacks that I got free in the past and I try to rotate them so DS doesn't get tired of any one (granola bars and granola bites free at Target after combining Target coupon and manufacturers coupon - last year I think, Twistables fruit snacks free after coupon and Catalina deal, goldfish - free after coupon and Catalina deal, Chex Mix - free after coupon).

How many trips did you have to make for this? That's a lot of time at the grocery store, or am I missing something?

I use my ECBs and RRs to purchase a lot of snacks.

When that's not an option I use coupons that double at Winn Dixie. That can get the prices of sugary snacks to free or close to free. Many of them also come with high value Qs in them. I also find that catalinas are free flowing for many snacks.

There's always Qs for microwave popcorn. I usually wait until chips are BOGO and stock up. I haven't found many great coupons for chips.

My biggest snack secret is most of the Qs are for ANY product, including trial sizes or individual sizes. Like the $1 off 2 GM cereal Qs. Those actually work for the small boxes that are 2/$1. My daughter just love these for snacks. CVS had the 4 pack of Nature Valley granola bars for $1.00. I had $1 off Qs so those were free. There's also a printable for 80 cents off 2 so close to free for $1 ECB.

Yes, it did take alot of time. I actually got over 1200 items in the two-week period but ended up about breaking even (zero cost) because most of the items I got were free or gave me overage (even some of the tax was paid for with overage). On most trips I bought 60 items so I went to the store over 20 times in two weeks. But most of these trips were on the way to or on the way home from work, so not alot of extra time. I look at it this way - sure it takes lots of time during the times when there are great sales, but it will save me time in the long run when I don't have to go run to the store all the time to get stuff I've run out of. I haven't been to the store since last Tuesday and probably won't go at all this week until I run out of milk (and I still have another gallon left that I got free with the overage from other items).

And if you have a Winn Dixie near you, if you buy 5 of more in one visit it will spit out a $2 off 5 catalina. I'm not sure how long this will go on but I've been doing it since late March.

It isn't as good as the frees but it makes them 10 cents each! Plus it rolls out another catalina!
