I wish I could get the kinds of deals I'm seeing posted here. I have yet to get PB for under $1.50.

Milk-$2.50 ( and that is a rare and fantastic deal here)
TP- I buy dollar store for .99 cause I can't find it any cheaper
2 liter brand name soda- .69 is the best ever and that was once
ground beef- $2.39 was the best price in the past year
    Canned food- .50
Cereal- .50 if I'm lucky, but it's really a good deal if I can get it for $1.50
    Whole Chickens-.77
    BS Chicken Breast $1.99
    Pasta- Free to .50

When I see the online deals posted I have to figure out whether it is actually a good deal for me with the higher prices here. Almost all the walmart and Kroger deals I have to add $1 to each item. We have almost no competition here. I have to drive 45 min. just to go to a Kroger.

I also have problems at walmart with them not scanning all the coupons or they don't scan correctly. It's hard to keep track on the little price screen. I had a coupon for free Blue Bunny ice cream and they only took off the price of the walmart brand instead of the price of BB. Then, the other day, the cashier only scanned one of my $5 coupons and my money makers then became something I paid for. After I have already paid and see my receipt, what I can do then?

If I could do the super extreme couponing, I might be tempted to drive somewhere else with a trailer just to get some decent deals.

I have the same problem with the prices being higher here in CT, but I am still able to get some great deals. I know it has a lot to do with what stores you have around you. For me, Shoprite and CVS seem to be the places to get the best deals. It has been a while since I have had a deal here on peanut butter, but I have some left in the stockpile, so I guess I can wait. I try to work in the cats to the deals, this seems to help a lot. For example, CVS will offer a $10 gift card with a $30 purchase of certain items. If I see toilet paper on this sale, I subtract out my coupons and then figure the price as one third of what I would pay. Then I save the gift card to use the next time I see a sale like that. Don't give up. There are still deals out there. We just need to work harder to find them.

You can check right there in the store. If they missed a coupon, go right back to that register or find one of the supervisors on the front end.

I tend to do several small transactions so I can watch things better. I don't go at 5pm on a Friday to shop, both because I hate the crowds and because I don't want to have a huge line behind me. If I'm unsure of a total I ask the cashier to print a slip (looks like a receipt, but without the finalized total/payment info) for me to look at.

I also prefer smaller trips where I can keep track and will only go when it is busy if I am sure my total will be zero. I have never done the trailer thing, but when I go on vacation or to visit relatives, I always check to see which stores they have and what deals there may be. Normally when I am with my family, I can't fit a lot in the car, but sometimes I can find a few bargains that are different from what I can get in my own area.

I want to know how you get cereal for only .50 a box? I'm also hoping to get my first free or near free deodorant or toothpaste. I'm new to all this and really need to save money as we all do. Thanks in advance for any help given.

    y'know what saves me a buncha $?

i always saw on EC how they knew before q's what the total should be, including tax, and the after q amount...
so i made me a s'sheet like that, that i update as i shop. (Helps having a calculator built into my clipboard!!)

as a result, i am WAY more confidant when i charge on over to customer service to get stuff sorted ;)

... i hope!!! kmart has been charging me tax on h2o, they owe me like $10, and any day now, i;m gonna be brave enough to charge in there & demand a refund... as soon as i hear back from IN dept of rev!!!
