What do you buy at drug stores?

I never shop at them. but it seems like lots of you super savers do, so let me in on your secret!

The best thing to do, is to visit the forums for the stores that are in your areas...

But to answer your question, there are tons of deals to be had.

Here is an example of a recent sale at Walgreens. Buy a certain number of Suave shampoo/conditioner, get a $ OYNO (on your next order...basically like giving them cash) When you used the suave coupons that were out, you were actually making money on the order.

I tend to gravitate towards the clearance sections, as they usually mark down items low, to make room on the shelves, or because of a reset (moving products around) they've gotta get rid of an overstock of something, even though they're going to keep the item...

I always bring my coupons with me, when I go, as I never know what I'm going to find. I've bought packages of Huggies diapers on clearance at $4 a pack, used a 2/1 coupon, and got them for $2 each.

Often times, they'll have a sale that on it's face, doesn't sound really great (must spend $50, and get a $15 oyno, but using coupons on the items, dropping your total drastically, you might bring your total down to $9, and then you've made $6 on that order.

For Walgreens, the mods there put up the ads sometimes 1-3 weeks in advance, so you've got PLENTY of time to figure out the sale, what you want to get, and trade for the coupons, where in most forums, you've really only got from the time the ad comes out (usually 1-2 days in advance) until the sale ends, to make the trade, get the envie, and go to the store... Not quite as convenient.

The best thing I can suggest, is as I said before, check out the forums of the stores that are nearby you. If you've got a CVS, go there, or a Rite Aid, check it out. You'll find SO many great sales all the time, it's hard to stay away!!

Another thing you'll want to do, is go thru the steps to become a trader, as it's the first step in trading to get the coupons that you need.

I would also add that the drug stores are where you get most of the free or cheap razors, shampoo, toothpaste, makeup, bandaids, and vitamins/supplements. Next week Walgreens has a FANTASTIC deal on diapers.

The drug store forums can be intimidating for a newbie, but if you choose just one to start with and get your coupons together for one sale, you will build your confidence. It's really hard to work Walgreen's, CVS, and Rite Aid all at the same time. If you are a newb, my best advice is to pick one store and start from there. HTH!

I do agree with mama22qts, start with one store before trying to do all 3 (if those are in your area). I was already doing Walgreens rebates before I joined a different couponing site. I always passed on Rite Aid b/c I thought they were too expensive, but started reading about the good deals people got. Then CVS got added in the mix.

I'm mostly a CVS gal now, but will do Rite Aid and Walgreens when there are really good sales and rebate deals.

My main thing with this couponing thing is not to just buy stuff because it is cheap, kwim? In fact, thats what kept me from clipping in the first place. I thought "Well then I will just buy a bunch of stuff I don't need!" So for me, I have to be wary of that. I am very minimalist and I don't have much in my house, I want to keep it that way! :D

We may be moving to a very expensive and secluded area so there will be a need for once a year or once every 6 months shopping in "town" 2 hours away. Then this will really pay off! :D

I don't buy it just because its cheap. I buy it so I have a rotation of items to not run out and have to buy X at full price. For example, toothpaste. I have about 20 tubes that cost little to nothing, accumulated over deals at CVS & Walgreens the past few months. Now that I have a nice stockpile, I can pass up a few toothpaste sales and work on stockpiling another item. Though if its free, I will probably get a tube anyway :)
If I feel I have too much of something, I get a bag together and give it to my neighbor to drop off at the local womens shelter close to where she works.
