Re: School There aren't a lot of coupons for school supplies, but there are some AWESOME sales and they are starting now. Keep your eyes on the drugstore, target/walmart type store, and office supply store ads. You will be able to get certain items for very low prices.
One thing you may have to do is to substitute cheap supplies for what the teacher's list indicates. For example, instead of one giant glue stick for $1.99, you will probably be able to get 3 smaller glue sticks for 10 cents each....the amount of glue is the same, but the big sticks don't usually get really cheap. Also, if the teacher asks for the 16 pack of crayons buy the 24 pack and toss the extra 8 if you need to. The 24 packs are the ones that will go on sale for 25 cents or less. Instead of a 1 1/2 inch binder ($5ish), get 2 1 inch binders when they go on sale 2 for $1. If the teacher wants a 4 subject notebook (150 pages for $3.29) get 2 single subject notebooks (70 pages each = 140 pages at 10 cents each = 20 cents) and glue in sheets of cardstock for dividers, or just get 4 single notebooks for 40 cents and have room for doodling.
Of course, the actual prices you have to pay may vary based on which stores you have in the area, but the items that go REALLY cheap are generally very predictable. These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head - glue sticks
- cheap plastic rulers
- 24 pack crayons
- 12 pack colored pencils
- small scissors
- 8 pack of markers -- washable aren't as easy to get dirt cheap
- erasers
- pens
- pencils
- 1 or 1/2 inch binders but not usually anything bigger
- pocket folders
- filler paper
- one subject notebooks
If you have something that can work as a backpack for the first few weeks of school wait until they go on clearance after school starts to get a new one. While you are at it, buy one for next year if the deal is good enough.
