Watch those ounces go down

I knew this would happen just a matter of when!

I was just reading an article about how manufacturers have already started taking away the ounces in cereal but we still pay the same price
due to soaring commodity and fuel prices that are driving up costs for manufacturers; faced with a choice between raising prices (which consumers would surely notice) or quietly putting fewer ounces in the bag, carton or cup (which they generally don't) manufacturers are choosing the latter. This month, Kellogg's started shipping Apple Jacks, Cocoa Krispies, Corn Pops, Froot Loops and Honey Smacks containing an average of 2.4 fewer ounces per box.

Yes - I have definitely noticed - and it makes it really hard when you are a big family. We are a family of 6 - and we go through cereal at the speed of light - the smaller they make the boxes, the more I have to buy. Cinnamon Toast Crunch (DS favorite) has definitely shrunk! Also smaller ice creams are a pain as we barely get two servings each out of them anymore. I do not have enough freezer space to buy multiples.

I was hoping this was a weight-loss thread. Though in my case, ounces just wouldn't cut it.
