| Re: Discussion: Fair value of coupons I go by the 10% or less rule if trading for pphf or stamps, maybe go as high as 15-20% if it is a really hot coupon.
I find that if you have some of the hot coupons, you would be better off trying to get some of the coupons that you are looking for that are very hard to find.
I am not willing to trade my first born for any coupon.
Just my 2 cents
Oh yeh,if you are in my area, scoped out Foodlion and found NOTHING,gonna head over to Bloom to see if If I find any in Anderson.

| Re: Discussion: Fair value of coupons If I'm trading stamps or cash, I try to keep it at 10% for inserts, and 15-20% for non-inserts. I've gone as high as 30% for WTs, since they're not available here, and I really need them, to keep my food costs down.
Normally, I try to trade coupons instead of stamps or cash. And, in that case, I'm usually pretty easy to get along with. If I have something I know I'll never use, and you have something that I really need, I don't really worry about the face value. My goal is that both sides are happy, and get what they can use (or that they can trade later for something they can use!).
I have noticed that trading is getting tougher lately. Unless you have Powerade q's, Kraft q's or free items, it's hard to make a trade.

| Re: Discussion: Fair value of coupons I used to have a free coupon for blue bell...way before I came here. I contacted the company in confusion for blue bunny ice cream Anyways, they sent me a free birthday quart or 1/2 gallon coupon. So, contact them to see what you can get. I still get emails from them but no blue bell in my area. HTH

I looked in my store today for the coupons but it was a no-go.
If you'd have asked what I'd be willing to pay for coupons, I'd have to say it depends on the coupon. Like for Blue Bell ice cream, for instance. DH is completely brand particular about his ice cream -- to the point where he will not eat other brands even if there's nothing else in the house. He will go out and use his own money to buy Blue Bell homemade vanilla.
So I wait for a sale and I buy coupons, which hardly ever come out. I will pay even 50% of face value for these because SOME savings is better than none if you're going to buy it anyway.
But for something that I'm buying to donate, 10%. And for MIR, maybe 15%. Frees, except pet ones, I might go 25%. There again, if it's something I need and would buy anyway, some savings is better than none. If it's not necessary, 20%. | |
