Default Re: Discussion: Fair value of coupons

That's so sweet! Thank you! I completely believe in the free market system like I said, but that doesn't mean I can always afford it...

I looked in my store today for the coupons but it was a no-go.

If you'd have asked what I'd be willing to pay for coupons, I'd have to say it depends on the coupon. Like for Blue Bell ice cream, for instance. DH is completely brand particular about his ice cream -- to the point where he will not eat other brands even if there's nothing else in the house. He will go out and use his own money to buy Blue Bell homemade vanilla.

So I wait for a sale and I buy coupons, which hardly ever come out. I will pay even 50% of face value for these because SOME savings is better than none if you're going to buy it anyway.

But for something that I'm buying to donate, 10%. And for MIR, maybe 15%. Frees, except pet ones, I might go 25%. There again, if it's something I need and would buy anyway, some savings is better than none. If it's not necessary, 20%.

I just remembered, the coupon clippers are charging .40 for the kraft cheese coupons. I'm not sure of the % of the value on those.

Well even though the Kraft coupons are up to say $4.50 most of the products don't run that high.

The Kraft cheese is on sale for $1.77 here. The Salad dressing is $2.15 and sometimes on sale for $2.00. So you really aren't getting the full $4.50 and there are size restrictions on the cheese and salad dressing.

I definitely agree with the 10-30%. It would have to be a really hot coupon (like $1 off Produce or the like) for me to pay 30%. Other frees, I take into account what the "real" price usually is. BXGY or B3G1 to me are 10% coupons, 15% at best.

It's a coupon bubble.

Remember what happened to the dot com and real estate bubbles??

Seriously, I understand though. It does seem like things are getting a little high. I am in this to save money, not spend a ton to do it.
I found a few of the Kraft wyb q's, and have been trying to do really simple trades. I think trading should be fun for the most part, and helping each other out :)
