Took DS dumpster diving again, and the dumpster was so FULL, he couldn't climb in! Made for easy grabbing though, so we started sorting through. Pulled out 2 inserts, and wouldn't you know it? Here came the recycling guys, with a new container!!! What do you do at that point, but throw in the papers you have in your hand, and leave... defeated.

Hopefully, there will be enough in there next time, that we can reach them!

I can't BELIEVE I've been caught twice, now! At least the first time, it was just someone dropping off.

There is a happy medium between a level too low to reach and too full to easily get papers out. As for the container exchange, learn their schedule. You want to catch it before they dump. Mine are exchanged on Thursdays in the morning.

That has happened to me before. Bummer!!
I know their schedule now so I go before they come to get it!

Yep, our containers just got dumped too. I had asked permission to dive, now I need to call and find out their schedule! LOL

When I asked at our church if we could dumpster dive, they asked if they could come and take pictures! Gotta love the humor! I'm hoping to laugh all the way to the bank!

I don't dumpster dive, but I do get up way too early on Monday mornings to walk through our subdivision and go through the curb side recycling bins. This morning, I was out of the house by 3:30 AM. I figured that I'd be back home by 5:00 AM, which is great because that is when the joggers and dog walkers start coming out. So, this morning I'm on the cul de sac right behind ours and almost finished. It's about 4:50 and this one recycling bin often has the whole newspaper still in the bag in the recycling bin. Since it is so close to home, I often just stuff the whole thing in my backpace because there are only 2 more houses that ever have inserts in them after this house before I get home. I grab the newspaper and was going to put it in my backpack when I hear this lady say, "Hello." I said, "Hello." She asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was looking in the recycling bins for coupons and that I usually did this on Monday mornings. She said, "What a great idea. I used to cut my coupons, but now I'm so busy at work that I don't have time." I told her that I was a SAHM, was trying to save money and that lots of people don't use their coupons. Somewhere in the conversation she said that I had scared her. This was probably because she was in a t-shirt with no shorts on under it and had gone out to put something in the garbage at the curb. I'm sure that she wasn't expecting to see anyone, let alone someone digging through her recycling bin. I apologized for scaring her and she said that she was fine and went back inside. My heart was pounding the whole time because I had gotten "caught". I wasn't doing anything wrong, though, and she was fine with it.

Before any of you set off on your Dumpster Diving escapades you may want to find out if dumpster diving is allowed in your state.You could face a possible penalty if caught dumpster diving in a state that has a written law banning you from dumpster diving.

OMG - that was hilarious - I was there for few minutes and got at least 10 various inserts including some P&G coupons from the last time around.

I took my DH and DS - they had a blast - they'd still be there if I had let them. I was too worried someone would see me & call the cops. Our recycling center is in the heart of town and it was so busy around there, so I'll definately go back but it will be MUCH MUCH later at night

LOL. I love it!

I have wanted to do that too, but DH says no way that's crazy! Plus our recycle dumpsters have bars across the lid and padlocks. I need to get me a miners helmet and a long grabby thing so I can reach through the little square openings and get some in the dark of night.
