    QUESTION Secret Shoppers???

I am wanting to do secret shopping, but with so many scams out there not sure where to look. I did this some about 10 years ago when I was still in college and enjoyed it. Can anyone refer me to places they've gone and been able to mystery/secret shop with?

    check out volition.com

You probably still have to register to view the forums, but there you can find all the info on a ton of mystery shopping companies. There are a lot of scams out there, but there are also a lot of legit companies. I've done mystery shopping off and on for the last 6 years and anytime I wanted to check out a new company, I checked at volition first. People post their opinions there of the companies, who pays fast, who pays slow, where they had trouble getting paid at all.

Just remember, do not pay anything to get a job, and that's what m/s is, a job.

I have done it for several years now. Go to volition.com like the above post stated. Also check out NARMS.com. These are both reputable sites that will help you out. Its not a get rich fast type of deal. You start off slow and make decent money and after a while and if you are willing to put in a few miles on days it can beceom really good money.

I started with signing up with over 100 companies. I work only with about 5 now on a regular basis. Some of these also helped get my foot in the door to do merchandising at my local stores.

But check out those 2 above sites. You will get very valuable info from them.

We have an old thread here about Mystery shopping - that might have some valuable information for you:

    Mystery Shopping

We also have a mystery shopping social group here, but it's not all that active, maybe we just need some new faces in there to help perk it up!!

First and foremost, sign up here, take a brief test to get your Silver Certification (many reputable mystery shopping companies are affiliated with MSPA and it does help get access to better shops)

    Mystery Shopping Providers Association

When you sign up with companies (many companies and they all do different shops for different corporate clients) many will ask in their questionnaire you fill out if you are 'certified' and that is what they are referring to.

I do mystery shops for grocery chains, gas chains, fast food chains, car washes and new car shops primarily. I do it as it fits my schedule but it will not be a full time job unless you make it so. That would require you being able to schedule 'routes' where you have several shops lined up with 2 or more different mystery shopping companies so that you make a loop and hit several shops in one day.

There are people that do that, literally travel a 200 mile radius from their homes and do shops in 'route' format to maximize profit.

When I did my taxes this year, I broke $4K but didn't do any mystery shopping until late March, so it was basically in 9 months time.

It is fun and a great way to make a little pocket money though and get free goods too.

I just did three gas shops that were within 6 miles of my house, and all within half a mile of each other. Got $30 in free gas, 3 free each of coffee drinks and fountain drinks Love that kind of day!
