It smells like licorice to me. Clean and Clear spot treatment or invisible blemish treatment (both 2% salycic acid) are fantastic for nite treatment. A good day treatment is their 10% benzoyl peroxide treatment. For face wash the Neutrogena grapefruit scrub is great (has 2% salycic acid) I used to use Olay's scrub with 2% acid but they no longer carry it anywhere around here. I always use scrub, never straight cleanser, helps really get the junk out of pores.

For anyone with severe enough acne to warrant prescription treatment, Retin-A micro is the winner hands down. I wish I could still afford it  (and the generic tretinoin is not exactly the same, the delivery system is different and does make a difference) I never tried Accutane, there were far more risks than the benefits for me.

You should be honest. Also, giving out the samples to your friends is a good thing too. Just because you don't like the smell, feel, whatever, someone else may like it. But it's also a good thing for them to know if a bunch of people don't like it.
You may be the one who makes them go back to the drawing board & try again.

The Burt's Bees made me break out severely, though the people I have samples to like it. It was really frustrating to used a product that was supposed to help acne and end up fighting terrible breakouts for more than a week!

OP have you tried clove oil? I used to get facials regularly and that is what the woman who did them recommended for cystic acne. 1-2 drops on my fingertips spread over my face really helps me.
