I got a letter in the mail today from

Inland Research INC
17811 107 Ave Northwest
Edmonton, AB, Canada
Tel 514-561-5639

It says that becuse I did a survey somewhere in my email, and I have done lots, that I was picked to be a mystery shopper.

It came with a check for $3,990.00. It says I have to deposit the check, and then wire some with western union (red flag number 1) and fill out a customer thingy letting them know how my service was. And then spend some and keep what I buy, and rate the store. The rest, 400 is mine to keep.

Has anyone else gotten this before?

I did check the BBB and could not find them.

I googled them, and could not find them either.

Sounds like a scam to me. Just google " wiring money scams".

Sounds like a scam to me too! I would never wire (someone I dont know) money from a check that I got from them.

If it looks to good to be true, and it seems to good to be true.. then guess what.. SHRED IT!

I know better than to fall for that, I feel bad for all the people who do!

This is a well known scam. The same thing happened to me. This is how it works:

You deposit the check (it is fraudulent, but a good one) the check clears your bank, you wire the money less what you are getting "paid". Then, the bank discovers it is a fake and reverses the check and debits your account for the full amount. You now owe the $3,900 back to the bank. If you have that amount in your account, the bank will take it, otherwise you will have to pay it back somehow.

I would turn over the check and everything to your local authorities, I did.

hello........i got the same thing and i called the bank and asked them if the check was good and they said no it was a closed account and all but i really dont know anything about it ......but my check said that it was from the legacy bank of texas .......but all i can say is call the bank and see if its forreal ..........but if u here anything else please write back
