I signed up for this and got a scanner last month. Looked over everything and decided to send it back. Almost everything I buy is on sale and used a coupon. That means way too much work to input. Like another member said, when I get home from shopping I am tired and don't want to be bothered with scanning either. I did not see any prize that I thought I wanted that wouldn't take me years to get enough points to redeem for. When I called to say I wanted to quit, they were so nice and said I can rejoin at any time I choose.

Yes you must be home to sign for the scanner when it arrives. I no longer have the catalog of prizes, but they were not that great and you needed lots of points for them. If I recall right, the least number of points for a prize was about 9000 for a cd case I think.

I signed up a while ago and I am still on the waiting list, I'm not excited now that I read sme of your comments...lol I ess f I get i I'lltryit fo a few months and see how its goes.

I've been a member of Homescan for over 7years, maybe more I can't remember.

I didn't do it for the 'prizes' but because it give me a chance to give my opinion about my purchases.

I've had enough points to get all sorts of redeemable gifts but there is not really much there worth getting. and the things I do want I can't use. ( I want the counter top garden but don't have counter space!)

It's a routine that you get used to, and it's not hard to use even with coupons if you know how to navigate the scanner.

If you don't "scan everything" they aren't going to know! So there is really no stress about it except to remember to send the message once a week. If I lose a receipt, I just guess. If I forgot something, I'll add if If I feel like it.

I think you should do this if you care about your opinion meaning something, not so much cause you might win some elusive lotto type prize. I feel good about doing it and someday I'll redeem my points.

Oh, BTW the online surveys are really interesting sometimes. and you get points for those too. and Test Panels. Right now I'm test using a toothbrush, that I'm not supposed to talk about.

Interesting opinions here. I am getting my scanner tomorrow - if I'm home when FedEx arrives. I sure hope my experience is a positive one.

I just received my scanner today. After reading through all of the info that came with it, I was feeling like it was going to be VERY time consuming. So, got on HCW to see what everyone has to say about it! Seems that many of you agree with what my first instinct was! Now I'm just trying to decide if I should even give it a try or just send it back!
What about hiring my kids to do the "scanning"....they love scanning things on the self check out at the grocery store; this might be right up there with that! Hmmmm... Now that might not be a bad idea!!!!

I personally thought it was a pain in the butt. I signed up more than 3 years ago and after a couple months i sent it back. It was too time consuming for my lifestyle and the prizes were not great. I love making my opinion count but there are many other less time consuming ways i can give my opinion.

I got my scanner 2 weeks ago - never took it out of the box after reading all of these posts and shipped it back this weekend.

I still use mine.
Its not that big of a bother IMO
The store I shop at most is listed in the scanner and I dont have to enter prices so its pretty easy
