Stop & Shop Overages?
What's Stop & Shop's policy on overages? I saw something about only using up to the value of the product when doubling but what about when not doubling? Will they apply any money that you might "earn" with coupons to the rest of the transaction? For example: I have a $1 off coupon, the item is on sale for .75, what happens to the remaining .25?
*ps: new to all of this, so I am not sure if what I just typed made any darn sense at all
Thanks in advance!

Re: Overages?
Welcome!
You totally made sense.
The short answer is that it can happen, but do not plan your shopping trips around it. Depends on the store.
You will find, if you shop multiple S&S's that different stores handle things differently. Including how many coupons to double.
I have asked their corp. office about this more than once. They said that if a manager makes a call to be competitive in their own market it is an "added value" to the customer.
It is easiest to get ovg. with coupons that double and have a shelf price of more than the double amt because the overage is usually automatic with the double. Others round up.
In most cases if the item is $0.75 and your item coupon is $1.00 it will beep and quite often the cashier has to force it in for either the selling price or the coupon amt depending on the store.
amylynne01 the forum mod in here probably has a little more insight & could add some more info that will help

Re: Overages?
The answer to the question depends on if the item is on sale or not. If an item is regularly $0.75, and you have a $1 coupon, the register will beep, and the corporate policy is to key it in for the price of the item. You get it free with no overage. If an item is regularly $1, on sale for $0.75, and you have a $1 coupon, it will (should) scan with no issues because the coupon value has not exceeded the shelf price.
The same goes for doubling. If an item is regularly $0.75, and you have a $0.50/1 coupon that will double, it will only double to $0.75. You get it free with no overage. If an item is regularly $1, on sale for $0.75, and you have a $0.50/1 coupon that will double, it will double to $1 because the coupon value has not exceeded the shelf price.
What I've written is what the registers will do. However, all of this is determined by the store, the managers, and the cashiers. If a cashier is especially observant and notices you could be getting overage, they can key in the coupon for the price of the item instead of allowing it to double to give overage. I would plan on getting no overage, and if you do, it's a pleasant surprise.

Re: Stop & Shop Overages?
Hi, love your user name, how creative. I am brand new to this couponing craze as well and I have been trying to find the copon policies of the stores in my area. Stop and Shop is one that I shop at. I'm going to find out what my local store policy is. Drop me a line if you'd like to communicate and we can work this out together. Have a great day.
