I used to shop at S&S heavily years ago. They used to have the best sales and mega cat deals! I can walk there too, so it was awesome. In the past 2-3 years, I never go now. They never have anything free with coupon or cat deal anymore. I do most of my shopping at Shoprite- they have the best sales!

I find S&S is really expensive. They have good produce and fish, etc...but you pay for it. My "organic" neighbors shop there because they have a big organic section now.

I am deal seeker, and deals can not be had at S&S.

But don't take my word for it. Take a look at the boards. Are the threads burning up for S&S? Are there ever more than one reply for each week? Then, glance at Shoprite or Riteaid or Acme threads, and see what you should be reading....some weeks the threads are 10 pages deep!

Nope. S&S is not a couponer's destination. Move along now. :-)
"Paying" for groceries is for suckers.

Hey- Deals CAN be had and there are more than one reply each week!
(oh, maybe she was looking at my Big Y forum, jk!) Where I live there are only Big Y and Stop&Shop for grocery stores. Well WalMart too. Never seen a ShopRite or Acme in my life! I have a family of 4 and manage on about $45/ week for food, household stuff, and diapers etc.

By the way, I don't regularly shop at Stop and Shop. I go there when there are some great deals, maybe once or twice a month.
I got a bunch of super cheap cereal and free milk recently at Stop&shop. That was definately worth the trip!
I get good deals on meat and produce markdown at Big Y. I find them most frequently on Sunday or Wednesday nights.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll have to learn to manage everything a bit better so I can hit up the various stores to save the most $$. I have a 2 and 4 year old, one of whom is in PreK, so the school schedule is from 12 to 2:30 and then I work from 3-11pm. It feels impossible to do much M-Th, which leaves me F-Sun. But by the weekend I'm tired and lazy, lol.

Within 10-15 miles I have a Walmart, Target, Shaws, Hannaford, Stop N Shop, Market Basket, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens.

The Shaws, Hannaford and CVS are right next to my house, so those are what I end up falling back on. Walmart and Market Basket are an absolute hassle to get to, but I've been to MB twice now and will definitely find a way to work it out.

Being surrounded by so much is a blessing and a bit of a curse, ha. It's rough keeping up with everything and I lost my source for free multiple inserts, so I never have coupons on hand anymore. I mostly rely on IPs. :(

thinking of driving to one close to me. Was wondering about the buy things get money back. Like they have buy 7 items get $3 back. Is this instantly taken off your order or does it generate a coupon to use next time like the other stores do? Just wondering if it's worth a trip or not.

The gas points vary. This week they are giving them out for Old El Paso stuff and Hunts tomatoes. I have big van so I figure 28 to 29 gallons every ten cents off is 2.80. Some weeks its worth it to stock up to get the points. A few weeks ago they had gas pts for scott tp and cleaning products that matched well with the coupons I had so I ended up getting a 1.80 off a per gallon. That was sweet.

I was thinking the other day. I never shop exclusively at one store. I stake out the deals and figure where I'll be that week too. (Like if there's an away soccer game or something. I try to hit the stores in that area for markdowns etc.) there's only so much time in a week. But there are deals every week somewhere.
