I have to much free Trop50-think I could freeze it? I wonder if the container will break open.
I never met a coupon I did not like.

Heidi has one that's even more clear (add to this one) but dadgum I can't find it. For example? When you do those eggs, whip em up first and store in 2 C
for most uses; 4 or more, for omelets.

Anyway, a couple things I wanted to share.

My husband saw or read this somewhere and it works great for us. If you don't typically use a whole package of bacon, then when you buy the bacon take out each strip and roll it up then put the rolls on a cookie sheet (so swirl is visible--vertically) and put them in the freezer until frozen. Then put them in a ziploc and place in the freezer. Now, if you only need two strips of bacon, grab two rolled pieces of bacon to thaw. It's great for recipes that use a half package of bacon.

I like to freeze overripe bananas for use in banana bread. There is a recipe by Tyler Florence of a certain tv network (see their website) which calls for four bananas--two pureed (by mixer) and two mashed. I use the frozen ones for the pureed part. Great recipe. Also on the same website, Alton Brown has a good banana ice cream recipe.

Wonderful idea about the bacon! Thanks going to try it!

Okay so I have been getting some super good deals on betty crocker cookie mixes (I think its like a 17.5oz pouch, you just add butter and an egg)...The exp date isn't until 10/10 and I'm sure I wont make that many cookies in just 10 months SO, my question is this:

If I still have these stockpiled come the exp date can I mix them w/the butter and egg and then freeze the then prepared cookie do for future use? Do you think it would still take good once baked? and How long do you think I could keep it frozen?

    TIA for any suggestions.

First, add 6 months to a year to the expiration date. THEN yes, make the dough and freeze it. I freeze cookie dough by rolling it just like you would buy it ready made, in a tube I wrap in saran wrap - however, I don't leave it long because of freezer burn. Maybe 2 months.

yes, really. First, is it really an expiration date? It's a sell-by date, IIRC. Or possibly a "best if used by" date.

Thanks for that info! I've noticed that Betty Crocker cookie mixes tend to go on sale around holiday times and there are almost always coupons available for them. It didn't occur to me that if I had some about to expire I could just make the dough and freeze. Durrr! Thank you hehe!

I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!! I freeze bacon all the time, but this definately solves the 'need 2 silces' issue that I run into all the time, usually resulting in not making the recipe or leaving out the bacon or cooking the full pound and munching on bacon for days. THANK YOU!!!

Or, just cook the whole package, allow to cool completely, freeze in a ziploc baggie, and when you need a couple of slices for breakfast or a recipe, just take the number of slices out of the bag and nuke in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Kind of like those packages of fully cooked bacon in the grocery store.
My bacon doesn't stick together when I freeze it this way.
