    Default Should I buy more?

Ok, DH stopped at Tom Thumb on the way home from work. They had chicken breasts and leg quarters bone-in for .99 a lb. He came home and the receipt had 2 packages of chicken for $1.99 each. He said that most of the .99 a lb chicken was marked down to $1.99 per package (about 5 lbs per package) because the sell by date was today. Should I go back and get more? That works out to about .40 a pound. We'll freeze it, but the sell by date is today. What would you do?

    Thanks!

    Wendy

heck ya! I know I would. For .40 cents a lb. I would get all that I could. I never get that good of a price here. Do what you are comfortable spending. That seems like a very good price to me.

Yeah. I'd buy some more. But I would bone the breasts out before I put it into the freezer (takes up less room that way).

I buy meat like this all the time. I food saver it and throw it in the freezer. I do this even if I plan on using it the next day.

That's how most of us get good deals on meat.

There's a post around here somewhere by hotcouponmama about getting ground beef at the end of the day-- go to the butcher and offer to buy about 50 lb and see what price he offers to get rid of it.
