Well, there are 'seasonal' good deals naturally, like we're coming up to baking holiday sales and all the products that are generally used a lot, so watch for coupons and sales to match up with those.
But as to day to day products, it depends on your stores and as far as personal needs products (shampoos/deodorants/toothpaste etc) those are on a constant rotating sale in the major drug stores - Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid in particular and they offer great deals you can match up with coupons, earn reward $ which is basically cash to roll into another deal the following week (or same week as the case may be).
So stockpiling is all about just checking the ads weekly and seeing what you can get free/cheap - you'll see your stockpile grow rapidly in some items, slower in others since the sales are not as frequent.
