Thank you! Started in May of 2008 (hardcore that is) and I'm still learning things. It takes time but if you stick with it and this site (it rocks!) you will have success.
I had sanity once upon a time I promise . It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it.

Thanks ladies! Glad to know I'm not the only one. I was beginning to feel like there was something wrong with us . The only thing I've really been able to keep is the Trix yogurt. Because it's in the basement freezer and only the little one likes it. BTW anybody know how long it will keep in the freezer? I bought 63 bags of m&m's last week to save for Halloween and there almost gone! DH's been the guilty one there. I've been on a diet so there hasn't been ANY junk food in a long time.

    Thanks again

I've always had a stockpile of non-perishables and they tend not to eat those things very much.

When daughter was younger she had a snack basket. She knew she could eat anything that was in there any time she wanted and she didn't have to ask. She could also have fruit or vegetables. She is almost 13 now. She still has the basket and she still uses it, although I trust her judgement now and allow her to eat other things as well.

We recently got a chest freezer so bought all sorts of things we didn't have much of before. So she has been eating quite a lot of those breakfast bowls, omelets and waffles. I guess this is a good thing because normally I have a hard time getting her to eat breakfast.

I do think I might have a problem when my husband comes home because he is a big ice cream eater. Which is one reason I wanted the freezer. I was having to go to the store every couple of days to get ice cream for him. Now I won't have to. But will this mean he will eat even more? Guess I will see.

My family did the same thing when I first started stocking up. First it was the Breakfast "granola", then the cereal, etc... Now they hardly touch the granola. The cereal is still an issue. Just because I have several boxes of 6 different types they would open a box of each. Then of course some would go stale before they were finished. Talk about making me mad! Now they are allowed 1 box open at a time! No new boxes can be touched until the other one is gone!

Everything else I am lucky with I guess.

I think some things, you just have to discipline them--even if they're over 40 lol. I like to get good deals on soft drinks (Sobe, Gold Peak, etc.) when I can, because we don't drink soda, and it's nice to have something besides water with your lunch, once in a while, kwim? Whenever I can find them, and they are free or close to it, I may get 20-30 of them. And I'm thinking "Hey, if we drink one a day or every other day....this is a month's worth." But hubby, he'll drink 2-3 of them, PER DAY and then they're gone in a week. Same goes for the expensive ice cream like B&J or HD. He'll sit and eat an entire pint, when my plan is that what I buy will last us a while.

Funny how they don't do that with the Crispix or frozen veggies...........

I just started out in May and I think I know what you mean, sort of. Before I started couponing, we had a big renovation project going on around here. We bought an older house out of repo for cheap and I still think we got a good deal, but oh my! The work!

Anyways, the last project was to completely gut the kitchen and redo the entire thing. We did have the fridge and the microwave while all that was going on, and you'd be amazed what I can make on the gas grill, but still. My family ended up acting like grazing animals when I started using coupons to try to stock up. Just eat eat all the time. It got worse when summer started and school let out. I'd cook a meal, turn around and there was always someone microwaving something or opening a new box of the other.

Lately that's slowing down a bit, but drinks are still an issue. DH gave up his 2-liter-a-day Dr Pepper habit by replacing it with a full bottle of V8 Splash every day, plus some water. I guess at least we know his kidney's are getting washed out well. I've been begging every V8 Splash coupon I can get my mitts on just to try and keep up.

With the hot, dry summer we're having here, DD has been drinking up a lot as well. I got 45 free cans of Seattle's Best Coffee latte when I finally found them available at CVS here on July 30th and today I grabbed the last one. DD must have got them all because I've only had 3 maybe 4 at most. She also got the lion's share of the 20 free bottles of Lipton iced tea and I just caught her taking the last of the 8 vitaminwater I just got. Some people around here need to learn to drink more water! I may go back to doing what I did when the kids were little and adding water to the juice around here.
